Despot Stefan La<strong>za</strong>revi} - Vladar umetnikDespot Stefan je bio, ne samo prosve}eni vladar,ve} i kwigoqubac, mecena i kwi`evnik. Poznato jeda se u svom dvoru gostio dru`io se sa slikarima,arhitektama i najpoznatijim piscima tog doba:pesnik Andonije Rafail iz Gr~ke, Grigorije Camblaki Konstantin Filozof iz Bugarske.U manastiru Resavi, dana{woj Manasiji, osnovaoje nadaleko ~uvenu {kolu prepisivawa i tuma~ewagr~kih tekstova.Stefan La<strong>za</strong>revi} je govorio gr~ki, latinskii staroslovenski jezik, a sasvim je mogu}e da jeznao jo{ neki od evropskih jezika. Bio je jedan odnajobrazovanijih qudi svog doba i po shvatawima,interesovawima i svojim delima s pravom se mo`ere}i da je bio srpski predstavnik renesanse.Ruler and ArtistNot only was Stefan an enlightened ruler, he wasalso a lover of literature, patron and writer. It isknown that in his court he received painters, architectsand the most distinguished writers of the time: poetAndonije Raphael from Greece, Grigorije Tsamblakand Constantin the Philosopher from Bulgaria.In the Resava monastery, present-day Manasija,he organized a widely known school for transcribingand interpreting Greek manuscripts.Stefen La<strong>za</strong>revic spoke Greek, Latin and theold Slavonic language, and it is quite likely that heknew some other European languages as well. Hewas one of the most educated people of his time and,considering his views, interests and achievements, wecould rightly say that he was a true representative ofthe Serbian Renaissance.
