• All societies are affiliates of Student Representative Council (SRC). For more<br />

information regarding student activities, one should consult the <strong>University</strong><br />

<strong>Prospectus</strong>. It should be emphasized that WSU upholds the principles of rights<br />

of individuals that include religion, political and social associations.<br />

SPORTS FACILITIES<br />

Students should enquire about sport from the SRC Office or the office of the Sport<br />

Administration and Development Officer.<br />

Opening Hours : 08h00-16h00 Monday – Thursday<br />

08h00 – 15h30 Friday<br />

Staff:<br />

Professional Nurse - available full time<br />

Doctor - available for limited hours for patients referred by the professional nurse.<br />

Counsellors - available by appointment through the professional nurse.<br />

Charge:<br />

Students: R6,00 for all services other than Family Planning and HIV counselling which are<br />

free of charge.<br />

Staff: Employment grade : Grade 1 – 4 : R10,00 per visit<br />

Grade 5 and above : R15,00 per visit<br />

Services: Primary care for any medical problem<br />

Family planning<br />

HIV counselling and testing<br />

Provision of male and female condoms free of charge.<br />

Proof of identification as a registered student or employee of the <strong>University</strong> is essential at every<br />

visit.<br />

TRANSPORT<br />

The <strong>Faculty</strong> provides transport service from the <strong>University</strong> to places of learning at scheduled<br />

times. Students are expected to strictly conform to scheduled times without exception.<br />

Transportation of students from the <strong>University</strong> to Mthatha General Hospital is a privilege and<br />

not a right.<br />
