- COBES: One session per week (4 hours)<br />

c. Attendance<br />

All students are advised to attend all scheduled resource sessions, BUT attendance to<br />

tutorials, practicals, clinical skills and COBES is compulsory.<br />

d. Course Assessment<br />

The year content for the four Abnormal structure and function courses is organized<br />

in a progressive, integrated and systematic sequence. The year comprises of four<br />

assessment periods which take place at the end of the academic course. The tests are<br />

progressive and based on the core contents for the integrated courses. The average<br />

of the continuous assessment components produces the year mark. Final exams are<br />

written at the end of the year.<br />

e. Assessment Components<br />

The Continuous assessment for the year includes the following exercises:<br />

(a) 4 Tutorial assessments,<br />

(b) Integrated MEQ Assessment,<br />

(c) 4 Ongoing integrated practical assessments OGPA and<br />

(d) Mid-year IPA.<br />

Each integrated MED and OGPA produces individual marks for each of the 4 integrated<br />

courses.<br />

The MEQs and the OGPA will be written at the end of the terms, the mid- year IPA<br />

will be carried out during the second term assessment. The contribution of each<br />

component to the year mark is as follows.<br />

Continuous assessment (60% of the final mark) will be made up of:<br />

Tutorial assessment (20%)<br />

End of term MEQ Assessments MEQ (50%)<br />

On Going Practical Assessments OGPA 5%<br />

Mid year IPA 25%<br />

f. Entry to the end of to the End of the Year Examinations<br />

To be eligible to write the exams a student is required to fulfil the following requirements:<br />

(a) 85% of the tutorial attendance<br />

(b) 85% of the practical session attendance in each discipline<br />

(c) A sub minimum of 40 % in the continuous assessment for the courses to be<br />

examined.<br />

g. End of Year Examination (40% of final mark) will be made of<br />

OSPE (integrated disciplines) 15%<br />

Final IPA 1 and 2 (50:50) 85%<br />

The final IPA and OSPE are integrated exercises. The OSPE produces individual marks<br />

for the integrated courses but IPA mark is common for the four of them. A student<br />

qualifying for the final exam in any of integrated courses will be admitted to IPA to<br />

produce the final mark only for the courses he/she qualifies for admission to exam.<br />
