FOREWORDThe G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology,Pantnagar occupies a place of pride in the field of AgriculturalEducation in general and Post Graduate Education in particular inthe country. The University lays special emphasis on theinterdisciplinary approach in the educational programmes to improvethe quality of Post Graduate education.The students are given ample opportunity to interact with thefaculty and develop self-learning and inquisitiveness. The lecturesare supplemented with audio-visual aids, group discussion, seminars, literatureconsultation field work, tours and assignments involving number of faculty members.The thesis research projects are inter-departmental.The Post-Graduate College has grown both in size and stature over the last 48years of its existence and offers Master’s degree in 68 and Ph.D. degree in 51 disciplinesof Agriculture, Basic Science and Humanities,Fishery Sciences, Home Science,Management, Technology, and Veterinary and Animal Sciences.All Professors in the University are statutory members of Post Graduate Facultyand the Associate Professors and Assistant Professors, after attaining a particularstanding in the discipline are accredited to teach courses and/or guide research atPost Graduate level. It is highly satisfying that the College has made a complete reviewof the Post-Graduate Curricula and Syllabi in the light of ICAR recommendations andUniversity Academic Regulations and introduced need based innovative programmesto meet the challenges of the twenty first century. No doubt, the exercise must havebeen time consuming and brain storming, the Dean College of Post Graduate Studies,Joint Coordinator, PGS and other associated with it have done a commendable job inupdating the Post Graduate Programme for achieving the academic excellence.I am sure, that the document on Post Graduate Programmes will prove highlyuseful to the students, faculty members and also to other Universities/Institutions.I greatly appreciate the efforts of Dr. B.K.
