SI units of measurement are to be used at alltimes.Submission of ArticlesGeneral. Manuscripts should be submitted (electronically) inMS Word format. If submitted as hard copy, two copies of themanuscript are required, double-spaced throughout on one sideonly of A4 (21.0 × 29.5 cm) paper and conform to the style andformat of the ASM Science Journal. Intending contributorswill be given, on request, a copy of the journal specificationsfor submission of papers.Title. The title should be concise and descriptive and preferablynot exceed fifteen words. Unless absolutely necessary, scientificnames and formulae should be excluded in the title.Address. The author’s name, academic or professionalaffiliation, e-mail address, and full address should be includedon the first page. All correspondence will be only with thecorresponding author (should be indicated), including any oneditorial decisions.Abstract. The abstract should precede the article and inapproximately 150–200 words outline briefly the objectives andmain conclusions of the paper.Introduction. The introduction should describe briefly thearea of study and may give an outline of previous studies withsupporting references and indicate clearly the objectives of thepaper.Materials and Methods. The materials used, the proceduresfollowed with special reference to experimental design andanalysis of data should be included.Results. Data of significant interest should be included.Figures. If submitted as a hard copy, line drawings (includinggraphs) should be in black on white paper. Alternatively sharpphotoprints may be provided. The lettering should be clear.Halftone illustrations may be included. They should be submittedas clear black and white prints on glossy paper. The figures shouldbe individually identified lightly in pencil on the back. All legendsshould be brief and typed on a separate sheet.Tables. These should have short descriptive titles, be selfexplanatory and typed on separate sheets. They should be as conciseas possible and not larger than a Journal page. Values in tables shouldinclude as few digits as possible. In most cases, more than two digitsafter the decimal point are unnecessary. Units of measurementsshould be SI units. Unnecessary abbreviations should be avoided.Information given in tables should not be repeated in graphs andvice versa.Discussion. The contribution of the work to the overallknowledge of the subject could be shown. Relevant conclusionsshould be drawn, and the potential for further work indicatedwhere appropriate.Acknowledgements. Appropriate acknowledgements may beincluded.Reprints. Twenty copies of reprints will be given free to allthe authors.
