Generally, the high school counselors targetstudents (often seniors) <strong>for</strong> the services, but students also have opportunitiesto request the services. During the 2009–10 school year, approximately 7,000high school students were served.Length/duration: Services are offered once or twice weekly at eachparticipating high school throughout the school year.Funding: The G-Force program is funded by Texas Woman’s University,and G-Force mentors are paid through a grant from the Texas <strong>High</strong>erEducation Coordinating Board (THECB).Goals and components: The program works to increase college awarenessand improve the college-going culture within participating high schools. Eachof the high schools has an established GO Center located at an area such as acomputer lab, library, or college center. TWU college students staff thecenters at each high school once or twice a week and provide one-on-onementoring <strong>for</strong> high school students planning <strong>for</strong> and applying to college.39
