2d. Printer Selection -- if equipped with theoptional Printer Package, from the System ConfigurationMenu choose "Printer selection". At this pointa Printer Menu screen appears with two setup choices:Paper type -- select the size of paper to be used inthe printer.Printer selection -- what type of printer drivers are tobe used by the program to generate printouts.2d-i. Paper Type Selection -- the <strong>Visualiner</strong> softwaresupports two different paper standards. The 11"size is the standard for the United States and NorthAmerica, while A4 paper is the standard in Europeand many other parts of the world. If incorrectly set,paper feed length and printout margins will be affected.2d-ii. Printer Selection Menu -- the <strong>Visualiner</strong>supports either generic IBM or Epson 9-pin printeremulations plus the Epson 24-pin emulation for higherresolution printing. Most commercially available dotmatrixprinters support one of these printer languages.If not, the printer will not function at all or willprint illegible information. John Bean Co. alwayssupplies a compatible printer with the optional printerkits. Select the proper printer based on the unitinstalled with the Printer Package.Page 30
2e. Software Configuration Menu -- the <strong>Visualiner</strong>CD-ROM software includes special programs designedto accommodate vehicle alignment proceduresof particular automotive manufacturers. Whenapplicable, these special routines can be enabledthrough the Software Configuration Menu:Standard options only -- the alignment routines andfeatures are the standard ones recommended by themajority of auto manufacturers.Suspension Plus program -- this option enables aspecial routine for the newest Audi and Volkswagonvehicles (1996 Audi A4, A8 and 1998 VW Passat).Renault options -- this option enables a specialroutine for Renault vehicles that includes ride heightmeasurements to generate camber specifications.3. Customize InteractionThe Customize Interaction portion of the Setup Menuallows the operator to tailor the alignment softwareprogram based on personal preferences and the needto include specialized procedures.The Customize Interaction Menu choices are:Alignment order -- alters the order in which certainscreens appear during alignments.Skip allowed -- enables the operator to skip certainitems, or disables the ability to skip these items.Displays -- changes the look of some screens,includes volume and brightness controls.Optional alignment features -- select certain alignmentroutines as in the path or on-demand.Optional alignment styles -- further selection ofroutines and other special items.Security code word -- used by John Bean Companyto upgrade future software releases, update specifications,and enable certain software options.3a. Alignment Order -- Use the up/down arrowkeys to select the Alignment function to be changedand press Enter. The instructions at the bottom of theMenu say to enter a number (1-6) to designate theorder the items appear during alignments. Use thearrow keys to scroll the number up or down or type thedesired number on the keyboard. Press Enter whensatisfied with the selection. A soft-key has beenprovided to return the <strong>Visualiner</strong> back to its factorydefault settings. Press soft-key #1 on the remote oron the keyboard to perform this function. After allselections have been made, press Enter.Note: Some items such as Runout, cannot beremoved from the alignment program. Also, someitems cannot be moved behind others.Page 31
