Combs, Assistant Executive SecretaryMs. Darlene Ratliff-Thomas, Senior Assistant Attorney GeneralOctober 28, 2011The Board's President, Dr. Conard, determined this meeting was properly noticed with the Secretary of State'soffice and a sufficient number of Board members were in attendance to constitute a quorum. The quorum was determinedby the presence of Dr. Conard, Dr. Paletta, Mrs. Arceneaux, Dr. Eckley, Dr. Edwards, Mr. Ford, Dr. Gerber, and Mrs.Stevens. Therefore, the meeting of the West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners was called to order.The Morning started with a board member training and orientation session. Thereafter, the first order of businesswere the minutes from the July meetings and August meeting. Upon motion by Dr. David G. Edwards and properlyseconded by Dr. Diane M. Paletta, and unanimously passed, the minutes were approved as distributed.The next order of business was a discussion of legislative issues in general and an update of the proposed feerules. The Board President will appoint a legislative committee to review and draft changes to the dental practice act. Dr.Meadows and members of the anesthesia committee will review the anesthesia law. Mrs. Stevens expressed an interest inserving on the committee concerning the dental anesthesia law.The next order of business were regional board issues and appointments which were taken for informationpurposes only.The next order of business were newsletters and press releases from the following: Dental Assisting NationalBoards, National Practitioner Data Bank, Western Regional Examining Board, West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners,West Virginia Board of Medicine & West Virginia Dental Association, which were distributed for information purposes.The next order of business were future meetings including the following: Auditor’s Seminar for Licensing Boards,American Board of Dental Examiners, Federation of Associations of Regulator Boards, Northeast Regional Board, SouthernConference of Dental Deans and Examiners, and West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners, which were distributed forinformation purposes. The Board’s meeting in March 2012 will be changed to the weekend of the 24th. Staff wasinstructed to check availability at the Holiday Inn in Barboursville.The next order of business was a Freedom of Information Act request from the Institute for Justice, which wasdistributed for information purposes only.The next order of business was a letter from the West Virginia Association of Orthodontists concerning issueswith WV CHIP. The Board agreed to check into the pre-certification of issues presented.The next order of business was the purchasing card report and quarterly financial reports, which were acceptedas distributed.32
