It was constructed <strong>in</strong> 446BC on <strong>the</strong> highest po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>in</strong> ancient A<strong>the</strong>ns, called<strong>the</strong> Acropolis, and was home to a giant statue <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> goddess A<strong>the</strong>na, <strong>the</strong> patron goddess <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> city <strong>of</strong> A<strong>the</strong>ns. The apostle Paul no doubt walked on <strong>the</strong> Acropolis and saw <strong>the</strong>Par<strong>the</strong>non dur<strong>in</strong>g his visit to A<strong>the</strong>ns <strong>in</strong> Acts 17 <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> summer <strong>of</strong> 50AD. The idol worshipcarried out on <strong>the</strong> Acropolis certa<strong>in</strong>ly contributed to Paul’s consternation that “<strong>the</strong> city wasfull <strong>of</strong> idols.” (Acts 17:16). D<strong>in</strong>ner and overnight at our deluxe hotel.Tuesday, April 24, 2012 – Today after a great breakfast, we head for <strong>the</strong>ancient city <strong>of</strong> Philippi (Acts 16:12). This city was built by Philip <strong>of</strong> Macedon,<strong>the</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Alexander <strong>the</strong> Great, <strong>in</strong> 358 BC. Here Paul preached his firstsermon <strong>in</strong> Europe and here <strong>the</strong> first believers <strong>in</strong> Europe were baptized. We willvisit Lydia's Spr<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong> place where Paul led Lydia to Christ, mak<strong>in</strong>g her <strong>the</strong>first person <strong>in</strong> Europe to ever give her life to Christ. Lon will give a message atthis beautiful and significant spot. Then we will visit <strong>the</strong> archaeologicalexcavations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Roman city <strong>of</strong> Philippi from Paul's time. We will see <strong>the</strong>rema<strong>in</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Egnatian Way, <strong>the</strong> famous Roman road that connected Romeitself with Greece and <strong>the</strong> eastern prov<strong>in</strong>ces <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Roman Empire. The ApostlePaul walked on <strong>the</strong>se very stones almost 2000 years ago. We will also visit <strong>the</strong>actual jail where Paul and Silas were imprisoned (Acts 16:22ff). Follow<strong>in</strong>g lunchhere at one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> charm<strong>in</strong>g outdoor cafes a<strong>lon</strong>g <strong>the</strong> shores <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sparkl<strong>in</strong>g Aegean Sea, Lon will share a devotional thatfocuses on Paul's obedience to God <strong>in</strong> com<strong>in</strong>g to Europe <strong>in</strong> Acts 16. After a full day <strong>of</strong> spiritual challenge, we return to ourdeluxe hotel <strong>in</strong> Thessa<strong>lon</strong>ica.Wednesday, April 25, 2012 – After a hearty breakfast, we will spend our day visit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> capital city <strong>of</strong> nor<strong>the</strong>rn Greece, <strong>the</strong>city <strong>of</strong> Thessa<strong>lon</strong>ica (modern day Thessa<strong>lon</strong>iki). The ancient city on this same spot was home to some <strong>of</strong> Paul's most excit<strong>in</strong>gm<strong>in</strong>istry, result<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a church that has two letters <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> New Testament. We will see <strong>the</strong> triumphal arch <strong>of</strong> Galerius, built <strong>in</strong>303 A.D. We will also visit <strong>the</strong> archaeological site <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ancient city <strong>of</strong> Thessa<strong>lon</strong>ica where Lon will share a devotionalbased on <strong>the</strong> events <strong>of</strong> Acts 17. After an excit<strong>in</strong>g morn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Thessa<strong>lon</strong>ica, we will visit <strong>the</strong> ancient city <strong>of</strong> Berea (Acts17:10ff). Here Paul found a community <strong>of</strong> Jewish people who were serious about Paul's message and who "exam<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong>Scriptures to see if it was true". While we are here, we will be able to stand on <strong>the</strong> very marble synagogue steps where Paulstood and preached. Stand<strong>in</strong>g on <strong>the</strong>se steps, Lon will share a message from <strong>the</strong> Bible about <strong>the</strong> attitude towards <strong>the</strong> Biblethat <strong>the</strong>se folks <strong>in</strong> Berea had and how that should change our lives. We will <strong>the</strong>n return to Thessa<strong>lon</strong>ica and board our flightto A<strong>the</strong>ns, where we overnight <strong>in</strong> our deluxe hotel.Thursday, April 26, 2012 – After a great breakfast, we board our bus for <strong>the</strong> trip toancient Cor<strong>in</strong>th. This city was a major commercial crossroads <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Apostle Paul and a city <strong>in</strong> which Paul spent a year and a half <strong>in</strong> m<strong>in</strong>istry activity (Acts18:11). We will see <strong>the</strong> Cor<strong>in</strong>thian canal, which connects <strong>the</strong> Aegean and AdriaticSeas. In <strong>the</strong> 19th century, this canal was dug through <strong>the</strong> four-mile isthmus whereCor<strong>in</strong>th sits and <strong>the</strong> canal is still used by ships today. We will <strong>the</strong>n visit <strong>the</strong> ancientcity <strong>of</strong> Cor<strong>in</strong>th and see <strong>the</strong> very road that Paul walked on almost 2000 years ago whenhe entered <strong>the</strong> city. We will see <strong>the</strong> Bemah platform where Paul's case was dismissedby Roman proconsul Gallio (Acts 18:12). Time will be taken here for a devotionalmessage from Lon. We will also visit <strong>the</strong> archaeological museum here at Cor<strong>in</strong>th. Wewill <strong>the</strong>n return to A<strong>the</strong>ns for a leisurely afternoon and d<strong>in</strong>ner <strong>in</strong> our deluxe hotel.BEMAH IN CORINTHFriday. April 27, 2012 – After a great breakfast, we will transfer to <strong>the</strong> port <strong>of</strong> Piraeus <strong>in</strong> A<strong>the</strong>ns, where we will board ourdeluxe cruise ship. We sail at noon and head for our first stop at <strong>the</strong> beautiful Aegean island <strong>of</strong> Mykonos, where we will have<strong>the</strong> chance to get <strong>of</strong>f <strong>the</strong> ship, have d<strong>in</strong>ner, and explore this qua<strong>in</strong>t island. Later we re-board our ship for overnight.Saturday, April 28, 2012 – After breakfast, we beg<strong>in</strong> a day full <strong>of</strong> excit<strong>in</strong>g events. First, we head to Turkey and <strong>the</strong>archaeological excavations at <strong>the</strong> ancient city <strong>of</strong> Ephesus. Ephesus was considered <strong>the</strong> third most significant city <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>Roman Empire <strong>of</strong> Paul’s day and <strong>the</strong> capital city <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> entire eastern Roman Empire. Recogniz<strong>in</strong>g this, Paul dedicated overtwo years <strong>of</strong> his life to m<strong>in</strong>istry <strong>in</strong> this city (Acts 19:10). The archaeological excavations here at Ephesus are perhaps <strong>the</strong>most <strong>in</strong>credible excavations <strong>in</strong> all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Middle East. One <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> many discoveries that archaeologists have made here <strong>in</strong>Ephesus is <strong>the</strong> unearth<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 25,000 seat <strong>the</strong>ater where <strong>the</strong> riot happened that <strong>the</strong> Bible tells us about <strong>in</strong> Acts 19:29. Timewill be taken here <strong>in</strong> Ephesus for a devotional message by Lon and a walk<strong>in</strong>g tour <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ancient city. After our awe-<strong>in</strong>spir<strong>in</strong>gvisit to ancient Ephesus, we return to <strong>the</strong> port area where you will have time for shopp<strong>in</strong>g. We <strong>the</strong>n board our deluxe cruiseship for lunch. Upon our disembark<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> early afternoon, we f<strong>in</strong>d ourselves on <strong>the</strong> beautiful island <strong>of</strong> Patmos. It was here

that <strong>the</strong> Apostle John was exiled (Rev 1:9) and that he received <strong>the</strong> Book <strong>of</strong> Revelation from <strong>the</strong> Lord Jesus Himself (Rev1:19). We will go directly to <strong>the</strong> cave where Apostle John received <strong>the</strong> Revelation and wrote it down. We will visit <strong>the</strong>church that stands on this site overlook<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> beautiful Aegean Sea, and Lon will share a message here from <strong>the</strong> Book <strong>of</strong>Revelation. We will <strong>the</strong>n visit <strong>the</strong> monastery on <strong>the</strong> uppermost part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> island, which conta<strong>in</strong>s priceless icons and ancientartifacts, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g an orig<strong>in</strong>al pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> Jesus by <strong>the</strong> famous artist El Greco (Dom<strong>in</strong>ikos Theotokopoulos). D<strong>in</strong>ner andovernight on our deluxe cruise ship.Sunday, April 29, 2012 – After breakfast, we disembark to spend <strong>the</strong> morn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>Heraklion, <strong>the</strong> largest city on <strong>the</strong> island <strong>of</strong> Crete. Its archaeological museum holds <strong>the</strong>rema<strong>in</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 3000 year old M<strong>in</strong>oan civilization. The city was a stronghold for <strong>the</strong>Eastern Roman (Byzant<strong>in</strong>e) Empire from 961 AD until 1204 AD. This city was boughtby <strong>the</strong> Republic <strong>of</strong> Venice <strong>in</strong> 1204 AD and became an outpost for <strong>the</strong> Italian Renaissance.In 1669 AD, Heraklion was captured by <strong>the</strong> Ottoman Turks and made part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>irempire. F<strong>in</strong>ally, <strong>in</strong> 1913, Heraklion (and all <strong>of</strong> Crete) was <strong>in</strong>corporated <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> K<strong>in</strong>gdom<strong>of</strong> Greece. The city has a charm<strong>in</strong>g mixture <strong>of</strong> architectures as well as wonderful outdoormarkets, restaurants, and shopp<strong>in</strong>g. You will have all morn<strong>in</strong>g to explore and enjoy thisGREAT THEATER IN EPHESUSqua<strong>in</strong>t city. After return<strong>in</strong>g to our ship for lunch, we set sail for <strong>the</strong> beautiful island <strong>of</strong>Santor<strong>in</strong>i. First settled by <strong>the</strong> Phoenicians <strong>in</strong> 1200 BC, <strong>the</strong> island became part <strong>of</strong> Greece <strong>in</strong> 1821. The expansion <strong>of</strong> tourismhere <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> 20 th century has resulted <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> growth <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> island’s economy and popularity. The island is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mostbreathtak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> all <strong>the</strong> Aegean and is full <strong>of</strong> cafes, shop, and restaurants. We will spend <strong>the</strong> d<strong>in</strong>ner hour here and <strong>the</strong>n reboardour deluxe cruise ship for our f<strong>in</strong>al night <strong>of</strong> cruis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Aegean.Monday, April 30, 2012 – After breakfast, we disembark back <strong>in</strong> A<strong>the</strong>ns and immediatelyboard our bus for <strong>the</strong> trip to <strong>the</strong> Par<strong>the</strong>non. We will visit Mars Hill (<strong>the</strong> "Areopagus" <strong>of</strong> Acts17:19) where Paul addressed <strong>the</strong> philosophers <strong>of</strong> ancient A<strong>the</strong>ns. Time will be taken here for adevotional message by Lon. We will <strong>the</strong>n visit <strong>the</strong> Par<strong>the</strong>non, considered by many to be <strong>the</strong>grandest architectural structure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ancient world. After see<strong>in</strong>g this <strong>in</strong>credible sight, we willfly to Rome and go to our hotel for d<strong>in</strong>ner and overnight.Tuesday, May 1, 2012 – After a hearty breakfast, we set out as a group to tour Rome. Webeg<strong>in</strong> by visit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Arch <strong>of</strong> Titus, erected by <strong>the</strong> Roman general Titus to commemorate his victory over <strong>the</strong> Jewish people<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> upris<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> 66-70 AD. This victory by Titus culm<strong>in</strong>ated <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> destruction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Temple <strong>in</strong> Jerusalem <strong>in</strong> 70 AD. TheArch <strong>of</strong> Titus actually depicts some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> spoils <strong>of</strong> war that Titus returned to Rome with, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g a giant Menorah (sevenbranchedcandlestick) as well as pieces <strong>of</strong> furniture and o<strong>the</strong>r implements that Titus took from <strong>the</strong> Jewish Temple. On thisarch, we have <strong>the</strong> only depiction <strong>in</strong> history <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> actual contents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Jewish Temple. Lon will share a devotionalat this impressive location. After this we will visit <strong>the</strong> Roman Forum where Lon will have a message. From here we go to <strong>the</strong>Colosseum, where thousands <strong>of</strong> Christians were martyred for <strong>the</strong>ir faith <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> three centuries after Jesus' resurrection. Lonwill expla<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> complex structure and <strong>the</strong>n we will be able to actually go down onto <strong>the</strong> floor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Colosseum and walkwhere so many faithful believers <strong>in</strong> Jesus gave <strong>the</strong>ir lives ra<strong>the</strong>r than deny him. It will be an <strong>in</strong>spir<strong>in</strong>g experience that youwill never forget. In <strong>the</strong> afternoon, we visit St. Peter’s Basilica, which tradition tells us is built over <strong>the</strong> grave <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ApostlePeter. F<strong>in</strong>ally, we visit St. Paul’s Outside <strong>the</strong> Walls, <strong>the</strong> great church built over <strong>the</strong> burial place <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Apostle Paul. In thisbeautiful and serene spot, Lon will share a f<strong>in</strong>al message that helps us reflect back over <strong>the</strong> life <strong>of</strong> this <strong>in</strong>credible man whochanged <strong>the</strong> entire world for Jesus Christ. You can visit The Vatican and its museums.You can spend time <strong>in</strong> St. Peter's Square, relax on <strong>the</strong> Spanish Steps, or just walkaround <strong>the</strong> most romantic city <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world. Perhaps you'd like to take a taxi and tour<strong>the</strong> Catacombs, where so many Christians hid from <strong>the</strong> Roman persecution dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>first three centuries after Christ and where those who were killed dur<strong>in</strong>g this time wereburied. esponsibility. Also, <strong>the</strong> airl<strong>in</strong>es may change <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess class seats at <strong>the</strong>ir sole discretion after thisbrochure has gone to press. Any such <strong>in</strong>crease will be added to <strong>the</strong> published price <strong>of</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess class and you willbe <strong>in</strong>formed <strong>of</strong> such a change when your request for bus<strong>in</strong>ess class is received by HLP Tours. Bus<strong>in</strong>ess class seatsmust be paid <strong>in</strong> full prior to confirmation and may not be fully refundable even if cancelled more than 145 daysprior to departure.12. It<strong>in</strong>erary and Possible Changes to It<strong>in</strong>erary. HLP Tours agrees to provide <strong>the</strong> it<strong>in</strong>erary described here<strong>in</strong>,subject to <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g: HLP Tours reserves <strong>the</strong> right to alter <strong>the</strong> published it<strong>in</strong>erary <strong>in</strong> its sole discretion withoutadvance notice and/or while <strong>the</strong> tour is <strong>in</strong> progress.13. Possible Cancellation <strong>of</strong> Tour. HLP Tours reserves <strong>the</strong> right to withdraw, cancel or change <strong>the</strong> tour, <strong>in</strong> whole or<strong>in</strong> part, at any time, <strong>in</strong> its sole discretion. In <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> tour be<strong>in</strong>g cancelled for unforeseen circumstances,<strong>the</strong> cancellation and refund policy as stated here<strong>in</strong> shall apply.14. Possible Revocation <strong>of</strong> Right to Travel Before or Dur<strong>in</strong>g. HLP Tours reserves <strong>the</strong> right to refuse or revoketravel to anyone who is determ<strong>in</strong>ed to be, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> sole judgment <strong>of</strong> HLP Tours, <strong>in</strong>capable <strong>of</strong> group travel. If thisdeterm<strong>in</strong>ation is made while <strong>the</strong> tour is <strong>in</strong> progress, HLP Tours reserves <strong>the</strong> right to send any passenger homeearly. In such cases, <strong>the</strong>re will be no refund for any unused services.15. Assumption <strong>of</strong> Risk <strong>in</strong> View <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Inherent Risks and Dangers <strong>of</strong> International Travel. International travel<strong>in</strong>volves certa<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>herent risks and dangers, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g without limitation <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g: (1) There is a risk <strong>of</strong>accident, serious <strong>in</strong>jury and even death dur<strong>in</strong>g travel by air, bus, boat or o<strong>the</strong>r means <strong>of</strong> conveyance, and at allo<strong>the</strong>r times dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> tour; (2) There is a risk <strong>of</strong> negligence by private carriers used dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> tour or <strong>the</strong>iremployees; (3) There is a risk <strong>of</strong> crime and <strong>the</strong>ft; (4) There is a risk <strong>of</strong> violent attack by terrorists. Some or all <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> dest<strong>in</strong>ations <strong>in</strong>dicated <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> it<strong>in</strong>erary may be covered by travel warn<strong>in</strong>gs or advisories issued by <strong>the</strong> U.S. StateDepartment before or dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> tour. Some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> specific dest<strong>in</strong>ations <strong>in</strong>dicated on <strong>the</strong> it<strong>in</strong>erary may presentmore significant risk than o<strong>the</strong>rs. HLP Tours and your tour host will endeavor to take reasonable precautions toavoid risks. However, <strong>the</strong>re can be no guarantee that <strong>the</strong>y will be successful <strong>in</strong> do<strong>in</strong>g so. Accord<strong>in</strong>gly, by sign<strong>in</strong>gthis application, which will become a b<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g contract when accepted by HLP Tours, you are voluntarily andexpressly agree<strong>in</strong>g to assume all such risks and hold HLP Tours and <strong>the</strong> tour host harmless for any <strong>in</strong>jury or lossthat may occur as a result <strong>of</strong> such risks, and to release <strong>the</strong>m from any and all liability, claims or causes <strong>of</strong> actionthat may arise from <strong>the</strong> occurrence <strong>of</strong> such risks. HLP Tours and <strong>the</strong> tour host assume no liability whatsoever foractions by any person, or that result for any reason, outside <strong>the</strong> direct control <strong>of</strong> HLP Tours, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g but notlimited to events such as strikes, revolts, terrorist actions, civil unrest, wars, natural disasters, <strong>in</strong>clement wea<strong>the</strong>r,closures <strong>of</strong> airports or hotels, or <strong>the</strong> breach <strong>of</strong> contract, negligence or misconduct <strong>of</strong> any private carrier useddur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> tour. HLP Tours and <strong>the</strong> tour host are not responsible for any <strong>in</strong>jury or loss that may occur while youare on board any airplane, bus, boat or o<strong>the</strong>r commercial carriers provided by HLP Tours under this TourAgreement.16. Release from Liability For Loss Or Injury Result<strong>in</strong>g From Ord<strong>in</strong>ary Negligence. Except for <strong>the</strong> grossnegligence or <strong>in</strong>tentional wrongdo<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> HLP Tours, its direct employees, or <strong>the</strong> tour host, HLP Tours assumes noliability or responsibility for any loss, <strong>in</strong>jury, <strong>in</strong>convenience, illness, or damage <strong>of</strong> any k<strong>in</strong>d (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g general andconsequential damages) occasioned by <strong>the</strong> ord<strong>in</strong>ary negligence <strong>of</strong> such persons or by o<strong>the</strong>r circumstances andrisks outside <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir control.17. Liquidated Damages For Breach Of Tour Agreement. In <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> a breach <strong>of</strong> contract by HLP Tours, HLPTours will pay you as liquidated damages (not as a penalty) an amount equal to <strong>the</strong> total price you have paid for<strong>the</strong> tour. In no event will HLP Tours be liable for loss <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>its or any special, <strong>in</strong>cidental, or consequentialdamages, however caused, even if HLP Tours has been advised <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> possibility <strong>of</strong> such damages. Any actionaris<strong>in</strong>g under this Tour Agreement or because <strong>of</strong> its breach must be commenced with<strong>in</strong> one year after <strong>the</strong> cause <strong>of</strong>action accrues. From <strong>the</strong> nature <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> services to be provided by HLP Tours, it is impracticable and extremelydifficult to fix <strong>the</strong> actual damages, if any, that you may <strong>in</strong>cur as a result <strong>of</strong> HLP Tours’ failure to perform any <strong>of</strong>its obligations under this Agreement. Accord<strong>in</strong>gly, if HLP Tours is found liable for loss or damage aris<strong>in</strong>g frombreach <strong>of</strong> this agreement, its liability will be limited to <strong>the</strong> refund to you <strong>of</strong> an amount equal to <strong>the</strong> total amountyou paid for <strong>the</strong> tour as liquidated damages and not as a penalty; and this remedy shall be exclusive.
