The Downshift Information (The fine print)
“The Downshift” is the official news publication of The
Chicagoland Sports Car Club. The monthly publication
is provided to Chicagoland Sports Car Club members as
part of the annual membership deliverable and commitment
from the Club. The Downshift is also available to
interested parties for $1.50 per issue (postage included).
Material published herein may be reprinted provided that
the usage is credited to the author, and the Chicagoland
Sports Car Club.
Opinions expressed in this publication are those of the
authors and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the
Board of Directors of Chicagoland Sports Car Club, the
Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs, or it’s BoD.
Article submission is encouraged and accepted in MS
Word format or as ASCII text format via eMail. When submitting
photos or artwork, please request the material to
be returned if that is desired. Submissions should be received
by the third Tuesday of the month when publication
for that month is requested.

December 2008 CSCC Club Meeting
Minutes of the Chicagoland Sports Car Club General Membership
and BOD Meeting December 17th, 2008.
Attendees: Frank Riemann, Frank Hartl, Rich Cwik, Gary
Weis, Larry Best, Alden Wells, Lois Berg-Wells, Bill Boesen
Food and drink ordered at 7:12 pm.
The local karate club and CSCC exchange rooms at 8:15
pm (a lot more of them than there were of us)
Meeting called to order at 8:18 pm by President Bill
Motion to accept meeting minutes as printed (AW) & 2nd
(FH) - pass.
Treasurer’s Report: (LB)- The honorable Treasurer
passed out a 2 month old sample budget (soon retracted in
favor of the Dec 08 Treasurer’s report). The treasury is in
good shape after this year’s Loooong Race bills were paid,
showing a net operating profit for the year of about 10%.
Move to accept the Treasurer’s report (FH) & 2nd (AW)pass.
The Banquet: (RC)- Move and 2nd to set banquet price
(after LONG discussion) at $40.00, resulting in small subsidy
by the club (AW) & 2nd (LB) - pass.
Banquet Awards-Nominations were taken for the various
year-end trophies. The Driver of the Year (The Hartman),
Rookie of the Year ( W2W/Auto-X) apply to both, MC and
Club Champions, Worker of the Year (Lou Schauppner Trophy),
and President’s Awards, were all discussed and/or
voted on. Votes were cast and winners were determined.

PHY!
Old/New business (LB) - SODI Kart Expo-will take place
this year on Feb. 21&22 at The Pheasant Run Expo Center.
We had a discussion about cars in the booth, The “get
into the track free” cards that we passed out last year, and
about holding a daily drawing for giveaways, such as old
Loooong Race coolers and Craftsman tool kits, in a “winner
need be present at 2pm” kind of format, hopefully attracting
some new blood to the club. In exchange for name, address,
e-mail, & phone number info, the people get entered
into the drawing for the prizes., and we get a bigger mailing
list. We’ll put the entries into a big tumble drum (from Bill
Boesen), and draw some winners each day. Move to appropriate
$1000.00 to facilitate procurement of materials
for the Kart Expo (RC) & 2nd (AW)-pass.

This was a $3-400.00 expense last year, and we need to
update them with this year’s schedule. Do we want to reprint
them? Move to reprint updated brochures (RC) & 2nd
(FH) - pass
2009 Race schedule-Get into BFR Free cards- do we want
to reprint? Move to reprint with changes (writable side with
name and e-mail block), and discussion about paying a
bounty to other clubs to get the cards back - (RC) and 2nd
(AW)-pass.
Amendments to the CSCC bylaws: A discussion regarding
membership, and revision of the bylaws was tabled until
we figure out if there are any MC membership changes that
will establish different membership levels.
The finalized 2009 MC schedule DOES NOT have an event
at Road America.
