The monthly publication is provided to Chicagoland Sports Car Club members as part of the annual membership deliverable and commitment from the Club. The Downshift is also available to interested parties for $1.50 per issue (postage included). Material published herein may be reprinted provided that the usage is credited to the author, and the Chicagoland Sports Car Club. Opinions expressed in this publication are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Board of Directors of Chicagoland Sports Car Club, the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs, or it’s BoD. Article submission is encouraged and accepted in MS Word format or as ASCII text format via eMail. When submitting photos or artwork, please request the material to be returned if that is desired. September 2009 CSCC Meeting Minutes Minutes of the September 23rd, 2009 Chicagoland Sports Car Club General Membership and BOD Meeting Attendees: Paul Schindlbeck, Rich Cwik, Dale Kofoed, Frank Riemann, Mike Schindlbeck, Alden Wells, Lois Berg-Wells, Larry Best, Jay Busse, Bill Boesen, Gary Weis, Frank Hartl, Neil Janota. Food and drink was ordered at 7:01 pm. President Bill called the meeting to order at 8:06 pm. Move to accept the (edited) meeting minutes (MS) and 2nd (BB) -pass. Treasurer’s Report: (LB)- The CLR39 expenses are coming due beginning this month, including the insurance bill, printing and postage, stickers and posters, etc. The fax line setup for CLR39 is $26.95, plus $25-30.00 to My Auto Events.com for registration fee with them. Last month’s expenses included brochure printing, the State of Illinois filing fee, (for our tax exempt non-profit annual report), and some Meadowdale expenses. We have a new member, Scott Krause. Welcome to CSCC. Move to accept the Treasurer’s report (RC) & 2nd (MS) -pass. Old Business: The Auto Show at Meadowdale-Frank Hartl and Gary Weis showed their cars in the CSCC exhibit, along with about 200 other cars. There were approximately 3-4000 spectators. There was a not-so-brief discussion about Honey Wagons and Port-A-John maneuvering- LB and FH were both on the Port-A-John Allotment Committee. MC Contest Board: (GW)- The 2009 MC Banquet will be on the 3rd weekend in January at the Cliff Breakers in Rockford. Price and other details will soon be available. Nominations for year end awards are now open online at the MC website. MC officer nominations are also open. Nancy Harlan said she would run again as Treasurer, and Sue Boldt as Secretary. Gary Weis has expressed interest in the position of Competition Director. Votes are in Dec. MC’s new tri-fold brochure is available online as a downloadable pdf file. MC is talking about starting another fund (!) to purchase a truck to tow the MC equipment trailer.The next Auto-X meeting is (was) Sept. 19th. The race at The Milwaukee Mile was OK, and we’ll probably go back next year. Salt Creek did a great job staffing the track. Rockford won the Ferris wheel competition. We have a VERY tentative schedule from BFR for the races in 2010. CSCC should nominate someone to win the Lou Schauppner Award. Our club did donate it to Council . (MS) nominates Frank Hartl for the 2009 Lou Schauppner Award – 2nd (JB) -pass. Deadline for nominations is November 10th. Continued on Page 3
September CSCC Meeting Minutes Continued Other MC awards seeking nominees: - W2W Rookie of the Year - Auto-X Rookie of the Year - W2W Driver of the Year - Auto-X Driver of the Year - Sportsman of the Year - Member of the Year - Worker of the Year (Lou Schauppner Award) - Bill Poole Award (Long Term Outstanding Service To MC) - Rookie Worker of the Year CLR39: (LB)- Larry passed out a staffing needs sheet, a jobs available, just sign on the dotted line deal . We discussed Pace Cars, and RC volunteered Dave/Meade Korwin’s PPG Indy Pace Car Turbo Esprit. We also discussed the rent-a-scout program, subsequently axed due to scheduling conflict. Entry forms are in the mail (about 1100) for CLR39 and also available on our (and MC’s) website. Press releases will go out the week of 9/27. We’re trying a radical old schedule this year-we’ll see if it works again More Old Business- The revised copy of the by-laws will be distributed soon….. Bruce Weatherston believes we should continue to attend the Kart show. CSCC has been getting good visibility there and at some other car shows lately.
