29With the rather unusual text :"Blessed <strong>and</strong> holy is he who has part in the firstresurrection, on such Death has no power."Here, too, rests the body of Thomas McCormick,the manager of the old Bank of Upper <strong>Canada</strong>, <strong>and</strong>church warden for many years, 1784—1867, <strong>and</strong> of hiswife, Augusta Honoria, daughter of Secr<strong>et</strong>ary Jarvis,born in London, 1790, died 1848, <strong>and</strong> of Mrs. Wm.McCormick, nee Arnoldi, born 1765, died 1855, havingbeen a widow for seventy years.Two descendants of United Empire Loyalists areburied here. Col. P<strong>et</strong>er Servos <strong>and</strong> his brother, DanielServos ; part of the original house built in 1784 stillst<strong>and</strong>s on the Lake road.ST. ANDREW'S CEMETERY.In this enclosure, where the first church was erectedin the town, in I7g4, none were buried till 183^,, thefirst to be interred, he who conducted the first SundaySchool in the town for fourteen years, is in few wordsmentioned :"Sacred to the memory of John Crooks, diedMar. 31st, 1833, aged 36. A native of Greenock,Scotl<strong>and</strong>."He was the postmaster of the town, whose benevolentdeed to prisoners in the jail confined for debt ismentioned in papers of that period, in sending firewoodto them in the depth of winter.Next this enclosure is one covered with fragiantlilies of the yalle^•. A small tabl<strong>et</strong> in the wall hasthese words : "The IMinister's Burying Place." "Forme to live is Christ <strong>and</strong> to die is gain."vSingular to say, in the century of its history, nominister of this church has been buried here, only asmall mound, that of an infant of a day, may be seenin the plot.A few military heroes <strong>and</strong> several U.E. Loyalistsfound here their last resting place, as :"Sacred to the memory of Donald McDonald, ofthe 79th Highl<strong>and</strong>ers, died 1846.""Lachian Currie, 68th Regt., fought in the Peninsularwar."Of one U.
