TDM Berhad (6265-P) 35The Healthcare Division will continue to build up its presence in thesecondary healthcare niche by strengthening its capacity, specialist teamsand capabilities; especially in the East Coast region where it is already wellestablished.To increase the division’s capacity, there are plans to build a new hospitalbuilding in Kuantan, with a capacity of 150 beds; as well as to add additionalfl oors for the executive ward with 10 more beds and 3 ICU beds at KJMC;as well as refurbishing and bringing in new equipment for its operatingtheatres and clinics. The construction of the new hospital will commence in2010 and is expected to be fully operational in 2013.AcknowledgementThe healthy performance of the Group refl ects the concerted effortsby the management to optimize performance at every level, as well asthe dedication and commitment of each and every employee at TDMBerhad, whom I would like to thank for their contribution to our continuedsuccess.To our customers and business partners, as well as the authorities andstakeholders, we thank you for the support, cooperation and contributionswhich have been crucial to our success.We are now beginning the see the clear results of the rigorous rehabilitationeach division has undergone, which has carried us through this year toachieve our second highest results ever, despite the challenging marketconditions and the cyclical effects on our palms.However, there is still much to be done and we shall endeavour to maintainthe outstanding performance of our business divisions and improve uponthe returns to our stakeholders.Our strategy to extend our plantations beyond Malaysia is expected tobear fruit and provide us with a secure and diversifi ed revenue stream aswe plant them over the next few years, so we will continue to invest insuitable locations.The journey ahead may be challenging, for while the green shoots ofrecovery are being seen, they will need to mature for the markets to returnto comfortable levels; but TDM Berhad remains in good hands and theexperience we have gained during the diffi cult times shall put us in goodstead to forge ahead.Badrul Hisham Bin MahariChief Executive Offi cer
