11STRENGTH &SAFETYManufactured inaccordance with the latestrevision of ANSI/ASMEB18.15SAFETY NOTICELifting Eyes (Eye Bolts)DON’T OVERLOADFollow carefully the working load recommendations.ALTERING OF LIFTING EYESLifting eyes should never be ground, machined, metal stamped oraltered in any way, since such operation is likely to weaken thebolt. Lifting eyes showing signs of having been so treated shouldbe immediately destroyed.DAMAGED THREADSLifting eyes with worn, chipped or otherwise damaged threadsshould be immediately destroyed. Such damage weakens the eyebolt and can cause improper seating.INSPECTIONLifting eyes should be routinely inspected for such conditions as:• elongated or bent eye section• elongated or bent shank• nicks and gouges• obvious wear• worn, corroded and/or distorted threads• cracks found by non-destructive testing• absence of sufficient identifying markingsIf any of these conditions exist, the lifting eyes should be removedfrom service and destroyed. In addition, the receiving hole shouldbe carefully cleaned and inspected for worn threads or otherthread deterioration prior to each insertion of the eye bolt.
