and Asia. The Group is one of few<br />
European steel manufacturers with a<br />
presence on nearly all Asian markets,<br />
where it has been active for over<br />
50 years. The Company’s largest single<br />
market is Germany.<br />
• The strongest selling product is tool steel<br />
(Long Products), which includes cold<br />
work steel, hot work steel and plastics<br />
moulding steel.<br />
• The Group is a classic niche supplier:<br />
the worldwide use of tool steel equals<br />
roughly 0.1% of total annual steel<br />
demand of nearly 800 million tonnes.<br />
• Tool steel is not a mass product;<br />
important are quality features such as<br />
durability, toughness, wear and corrosion<br />
resistance, and polishing qualities.<br />
• The most important sales driver for tool<br />
steel is the introduction of new models<br />
(autos, electronic equipment, household<br />
appliances, etc.). These changeovers<br />
require new forms and tools which,<br />
in turn, are made of tool steel.<br />
• The BÖHLER-UDDEHOLM share was first<br />
listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange on<br />
10 April 1995 in the key ATX segment.<br />
• 48.45% of share capital is held in<br />
free float, 25.1% is owned by a group<br />
of private Austrian financial investors,<br />
and 25% by Österreichische Industrieholding<br />
AG (”Austrian State Holding<br />
Corporation“). In <strong>2001</strong> the Company<br />
repurchased 1.45% of share capital in<br />
conjunction with a stock buyback program<br />
(status as of 31 December <strong>2001</strong>).
