Drifting BackBy Larry Wilson,SVR Member30 Years Ago (July 1975)President Dan Boone complained that attendanceat the monthly dinner meetingshad dwindled from 125 at the Januarymeeting to half that in June. He isolatedthe cause to increased dinner prices, as evidencedby the $8.50 price tag for the Junestuffed pork chop dinner at Stroh’s NeptuneTable on South Land Park Drive. If thatwasn’t bad enough, Charles Krug wine wasgoing for an outrageous $3.00 per bottle(three-buck Chuck?). Pat Kincaid andJoe Wright were the co-chairs. The auction, with Bob Schleh as auctioneer, broughtin $258 for the Pre-School kids. As usual, the 356ers lead by Jim Karver were moreskilled at volleyball and won; their cars alsowent faster and their wives were prettier.Ken Fielding (911) and Wyn Robertson(356C) each won their class in theconcours d’elegance during the 20 th PorscheParade in Seattle, July 27 through August1.
