2414 external plumbing and valvesInlet lineSolenoidpurge valveRecyclevalvePressure reliefvalveTP01901Countercurrent heat exchangerThe low-dispersion, countercurrent heat exchanger minimizes temperaturefluctuations in the sample stream. The device’s sample inlet and outlet linesare coaxial, which facilitates heat exchange between incoming and outgoingfluids.Flow cellThe flow cell consists of two fused, quartz, hollow prisms. Each cell has aninlet and outlet. One of the prisms constitutes the cell’s sample side throughwhich a constant flow of eluent passes during analysis. The other prism constitutes the cell’s reference side. It is filled with freshsolvent when you purge the detector during equilibration. When you switchfrom purge to normal operation, the solenoid valve opens, and the pressurerelief valve shuts, stopping the flow of solvent through the reference prism butleaving the cell filled with solvent.Detector description 1-19
