On the nightof the 25th the 72nd moved into close support of the 78thBattalion in the village of La Senitinelle, and two dayslater relieved that Battalion in the front line, which consisted of posts in the houses along the canal bank overlooking the historic lace-making centre of France, Valenciennes.159
