H. <strong>of</strong>C., at the time <strong>of</strong> this writing, has taken some important stepstowards re-establishment on its pre-war basis. The newCommanding Officer is Lieut. -Col. G. H. Kirkpatrick, D.S.O.,one <strong>of</strong> the original <strong>of</strong>ficers in the <strong>72nd</strong> Regiment before the war.After serving for two years in France with the <strong>72nd</strong> Battalion asa major, he rose to command the Battalion during the last fewmonths <strong>of</strong> the war. The Adjutant is Capt. J. R. S. Lough, D.S.O.,M.C., who served in France for some eighteen months with the<strong>72nd</strong> Battalion. There is every reason to hope that under itspresent command the <strong>72nd</strong> Regiment <strong>Seaforth</strong> <strong>Highlanders</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Canada</strong> will perpetuate to the full its past splendid traditions.296
