CH.3 – 42]CIVIL AVIATION“Aerodrome” means any area of land or waterdesigned, equipped, set apart or commonly usedfor affording facilities for the landing anddeparture of aircraft and includes any area orspace, whether on the ground, on the roof of abuilding or elsewhere, which is designed,equipped or set apart for affording facilities forthe landing and departure of aircraft capable ofdescending or climbing vertically, but shall notinclude any area the use of which for affordingfacilities for the landing and departure of aircrafthas been abandoned and has not been resumed;“Aerodrome operating minima” in relation to theoperation of an aircraft at an aerodrome means thecloud ceiling and runway visual range for takeoff,and the decision height or minimum descentheight, runway visual range and visual referencefor landing, which are the minimum for theoperation of that aircraft at that aerodrome;“Airman” means any person certificated to perform aservice relating to an aircraft, maintenance orflight operation;“Airman certificate” means any certificate issued toan airman under these <strong>Regulations</strong>;“Air Operator Certificate” or “AOC” means acertificate issued by <strong>The</strong> <strong>Bahamas</strong> or competentauthority of another State authorizing the holderto conduct passenger or cargo operations forremuneration, hire or valuable consideration (seedefinition of “commercial air transport”)“AOC holder” means the person or entity to whichthe AOC has been issued.“Approach to landing” means that portion of the flightof the aircraft, when approaching to land, inwhich it is descending below a height of 1000 ftabove the relevant specified decision height orminimum descent height;“Appropriate aeronautical radio station” means inrelation to an aircraft an aeronautical radiostation serving the area in which the aircraft isfor the time being;STATUTE LAW OF THE BAHAMAS LRO 1/2002
