CH.3 – 44]CIVIL AVIATION“Contracting state” means any State (including <strong>The</strong><strong>Bahamas</strong>) which is party to the Convention onInternational <strong>Civil</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong>;“Controlled airspace” means airspace which has beennotified as Class A, Class B, Class C, Class Dor Class E airspace;“Second in command” in relation to an aircraftmeans a pilot who in performing his duties assuch is subject to the direction of another pilotcarried in the aircraft;“Crew member” means any person required toperform duties on an aircraft in flight;“Flight” and “to fly” in relation to an aircraft meansthe time from which it lifts off the surface untilit again lands on the surface;“Flight crew” in relation to an aircraft means thosemembers of the crew of the aircraft whorespectively undertake to act as pilot and flightengineer of the aircraft;“Flight simulator” means apparatus by means ofwhich flight conditions in an aircraft aresimulated on the ground;“General aviation operation” means any aircraftflight operation other than for the purpose orbusiness of commercial air transport or aerialwork.“Licence” includes any certificate of competency orcertificate of validity issued with the licence orrequired to be held in connection with thelicence by the law of the country in which thelicence is granted;“Logbook” in the case of an aircraft logbook, enginelogbook or variable pitch propeller logbook, orpersonal flying logbook, includes a record kepteither in a book, or by any other means approvedby the Minister in the particular case;“Maximum total weight authorized” in relation to anaircraft means the maximum total weight of theaircraft and its contents at which the aircraftmay take off anywhere in the world, in the mostfavorable circumstances in accordance with thecertificate of airworthiness in force in respect ofthe aircraft;STATUTE LAW OF THE BAHAMAS LRO 1/2002
