<strong>The</strong> minister and the other team members, by intentionally building a co-operative climate to<br />

accomplish their work, will themselves learn to change old patterns and try new things. <strong>The</strong>n, they<br />

can help other committees, the <strong>of</strong>ficial board (or equivalent), and the congregation to do the same.<br />

<strong>The</strong> success <strong>of</strong> the team will lie in its members’ ability to recognize issues that are negatively affecting<br />

congregational life and deal with them in its own functioning, and then lead the congregation to<br />

learn about those patterns and take appropriate actions to change them.<br />

Continuity beyond the Interim Ministry<br />

<strong>The</strong> congregational trans<strong>for</strong>mation that is initiated during Interim Ministry must be sustained into<br />

the ensuing ministry. <strong>The</strong>re is <strong>of</strong>ten a tendency <strong>for</strong> the congregation to fall back into old habits at the<br />

conclusion <strong>of</strong> the interim period. <strong>The</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e it is vital that the principles and intentions <strong>of</strong> the Interim<br />

Ministry are well integrated by the congregation’s key leaders, and that newly called ministers are<br />

well briefed and well advised as they take their places in the pastoral charge.<br />
