The focus of thespecial issue is on empirical indigenous research addressingphenomena unique to China, especially those that defythe prediction or explanation by extant theories derived inthe Western contexts. We also welcome conceptual papersor inductive theory building studies that introduce noveltheoretical insight on local phenomena that are particularlyunique to China. Papers that build universal theories byusing indigenous research approach also would be valuablecontributions to this special issue.Some examples of topics for empirical analysis highlyrelevant for this special issue include:· The application of Chinese traditional cultural valuesto the contemporary issues of strategic management,organizational structure, strategic alliance, and leadership· The role of informal institutions and their interaction withformal institutions· The balance of harmony and conflict among the Chineseorganizations· Paternalistic leadership in a context of generationaldifferences in cultural values· The changing role of guanxi in the evolving Chineseeconomic, social, and culture context· The regional differences within Mainland China that affectthe Chinese organizationsIn addition, papers that compare findings usingindigenous and universal theories on the same phenomenonwould be highly relevant for this special issue. Papers thatdevelop indigenous research methods or empirical studies thatutilize indigenous methods (with or without comparison touniversal methods) are also welcome.
