Local hospital committed to<br />

excellence, community care<br />

St. John’s Regional Medical Center<br />

and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital,<br />

members <strong>of</strong> Dignity Health, comprise<br />

one <strong>of</strong> the largest acute health care organizations<br />

in Ventura County. These<br />

private, not-for-pr<strong>of</strong>it hospitals are dedicated<br />

to providing quality services that<br />

enhance wellness and healing, improving<br />

health in mind, body, and spirit, and<br />

advocating for the disadvantaged. St.<br />

John's Hospitals have a combined total<br />

<strong>of</strong> 445 licensed beds, 1,800 employees,<br />

and more than 500 active medical staff<br />

members in all specialties.<br />

St. John’s PVH, <strong>Camarillo</strong><br />

St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital<br />

(SJPVH) in <strong>Camarillo</strong> was founded<br />

in 1974 by influential leaders who believed<br />

that a hospital was needed in the<br />

growing community. In addition to its<br />

acute-care services, SJPVH has a Subacute<br />

Care Unit and operates the first<br />

hospital-based hyperbaric medicine and<br />

wound care center in Ventura County.<br />

In 2007 a new emergency department<br />

opened with state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art medical<br />

technology. Nearly one quarter <strong>of</strong> St.<br />

John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital’s 500<br />

employees live in <strong>Camarillo</strong>.<br />

St. John’s RMC, Oxnard<br />

St. John’s Regional Medical Center<br />

(SJRMC) is located in Oxnard. At<br />

the request <strong>of</strong> Reverend Laubacher the<br />

Sisters <strong>of</strong> Mercy established St. John’s<br />

Hospital in 1912, making vital health-<br />

care services available on the vast Oxnard<br />

plain. This year St. John’s celebrates<br />

its Centennial anniversary with<br />

the theme: 100 Years: A Legacy <strong>of</strong><br />

Healing.<br />

Programs & Services<br />

St. John’s Hospitals <strong>of</strong>fer comprehensive<br />

programs and services, including<br />

24-hour emergency medical<br />

services, orthopedic services, cancer<br />

care, a nationally recognized cardiovascular<br />

program, diagnostic imaging<br />

and women’s services, surgical weight<br />

loss, wound care and hyperbaric medicine,<br />

palliative care and spiritual care<br />

services.<br />

John’s Hospitals provided more than<br />

$58 million in unsponsored care and<br />

programs benefitting underserved populations<br />

in our community. Through<br />

our community outreach programs and<br />

partnerships with local organizations,<br />

St. John's <strong>of</strong>fers health screenings,<br />

health education and promotion and<br />

disease prevention programs.<br />

Accessible Resources<br />

Through the Dignity Health Community<br />

Grants Program St. John’s dedicates<br />

substantial resources to strengthening<br />

and enriching the community,<br />

ensuring that essential health and social<br />

services are accessible to all members<br />

<strong>of</strong> the community. In Fiscal Year 2010,<br />

St. John’s conferred grants to ten local<br />

non-pr<strong>of</strong>it organizations, resulting in<br />

$154,636 in community benefit.<br />

an emphasis on improving the health <strong>of</strong><br />

the community. Individually we can’t<br />

provide for all the needs that exist, but<br />

collectively we can make a significant<br />

impact,” said Laurie Eberst, president<br />

and CEO <strong>of</strong> St. John’s Hospitals.<br />
