Local hospital committed to
excellence, community care
St. John’s Regional Medical Center
and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital,
members of Dignity Health, comprise
one of the largest acute health care organizations
in Ventura County. These
private, not-for-profit hospitals are dedicated
to providing quality services that
enhance wellness and healing, improving
health in mind, body, and spirit, and
advocating for the disadvantaged. St.
John's Hospitals have a combined total
of 445 licensed beds, 1,800 employees,
and more than 500 active medical staff
members in all specialties.
St. John’s PVH, Camarillo
St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital
(SJPVH) in Camarillo was founded
in 1974 by influential leaders who believed
that a hospital was needed in the
growing community. In addition to its
acute-care services, SJPVH has a Subacute
Care Unit and operates the first
hospital-based hyperbaric medicine and
wound care center in Ventura County.
In 2007 a new emergency department
opened with state-of-the-art medical
technology. Nearly one quarter of St.
John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital’s 500
employees live in Camarillo.
St. John’s RMC, Oxnard
St. John’s Regional Medical Center
(SJRMC) is located in Oxnard. At
the request of Reverend Laubacher the
Sisters of Mercy established St. John’s
Hospital in 1912, making vital health-

care services available on the vast Oxnard
plain. This year St. John’s celebrates
its Centennial anniversary with
the theme: 100 Years: A Legacy of
Healing.
Programs & Services
St. John’s Hospitals offer comprehensive
programs and services, including
24-hour emergency medical
services, orthopedic services, cancer
care, a nationally recognized cardiovascular
program, diagnostic imaging
and women’s services, surgical weight
loss, wound care and hyperbaric medicine,
palliative care and spiritual care
services.

$58 million in unsponsored care and
programs benefitting underserved populations
in our community. Through
our community outreach programs and
partnerships with local organizations,
St. John's offers health screenings,
health education and promotion and
disease prevention programs.
Accessible Resources
Through the Dignity Health Community
Grants Program St. John’s dedicates
substantial resources to strengthening
and enriching the community,
ensuring that essential health and social
services are accessible to all members
of the community. In Fiscal Year 2010,
St. John’s conferred grants to ten local
non-profit organizations, resulting in
$154,636 in community benefit.

provide for all the needs that exist, but
collectively we can make a significant
impact,” said Laurie Eberst, president
