Economic development<br />
The Economic Development Committee<br />
(EDC) focuses on “helping to<br />
create a strong local economy”. The<br />
committee connects business leaders,<br />
community leaders and government<br />
leaders on an ongoing basis. The EDC<br />
hears and discusses issues and opportunities<br />
related to <strong>Camarillo</strong>’s economic<br />
health. There are presentations on “hot<br />
topics” such as future development<br />
projects or activities at CSUCI. Economic<br />
Development <strong>of</strong>ficials from the<br />
area are invited to meet with the group.<br />
It is a good forum to better understand<br />
city, county and state economic development<br />
efforts and to engage civic leaders<br />
on economic issues.<br />
Regular attendees include the City<br />
Manager and staff, business representative<br />
in the area <strong>of</strong> real estate, retail, finance,<br />
education, banking, health care,<br />
etc. Many regular attendees are active<br />
on various other <strong>Chamber</strong> Boards.<br />
The Committee is responsible for<br />
the Annual Economic Development<br />
<strong>Chamber</strong> committee<br />
tackles tough issues<br />
around economic development<br />

Luncheon (November) including updated<br />
economic forecasts for the area.<br />
There is a business survey <strong>of</strong> <strong>Camarillo</strong><br />
economic trends completed at that time<br />
as well.<br />
This committee serves as the connection<br />
to the City Economic Development<br />
Committee which meets every 2<br />
months.<br />
Current program focus includes<br />
• Continuing activities to support job<br />
creation and retention.<br />
• Expanding business visitation programs<br />
in conjunction with the City.<br />
• Recommending action on <strong>2012</strong> November<br />
election ballot initiatives to<br />
create a healthy economic climate<br />
for job growth, balanced budgets<br />
and a functional, co-operative legislature.<br />
• Developing a new high school for<br />
<strong>Camarillo</strong> with positive economic<br />
impact.<br />
• Promoting <strong>Camarillo</strong> as an impor-<br />
<strong>2012</strong> Table Top Business Expo<br />
tant tourism and visitor destination.<br />
• Continuing support <strong>of</strong> CSUCI<br />
growth and positive community economic<br />
impact.<br />
• Monitoring re-development re-organization/project<br />
changes.<br />
• Determining activities to support the<br />
continued success <strong>of</strong> NBVC.<br />
Historically, many <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Chamber</strong><br />
activities and programs have originated<br />
from the Economic Development Committee,<br />
such as the Economic Outlook<br />
& Forecast Luncheon, CI COnnection<br />
Committee and others.<br />
The EDC meetins on the first Tuesday<br />
<strong>of</strong> each moth from 8 - 9 a.m. in the<br />
<strong>Chamber</strong> boardroom. All members are<br />
welcome and invited to attend.<br />
