Economic development
The Economic Development Committee
(EDC) focuses on “helping to
create a strong local economy”. The
committee connects business leaders,
community leaders and government
leaders on an ongoing basis. The EDC
hears and discusses issues and opportunities
related to Camarillo’s economic
health. There are presentations on “hot
topics” such as future development
projects or activities at CSUCI. Economic
Development officials from the
area are invited to meet with the group.
It is a good forum to better understand
city, county and state economic development
efforts and to engage civic leaders
on economic issues.
Regular attendees include the City
Manager and staff, business representative
in the area of real estate, retail, finance,
education, banking, health care,
etc. Many regular attendees are active
on various other Chamber Boards.

economic forecasts for the area.
There is a business survey of Camarillo
economic trends completed at that time
as well.
This committee serves as the connection
to the City Economic Development
Committee which meets every 2
months.
Current program focus includes
• Continuing activities to support job
creation and retention.
• Expanding business visitation programs
in conjunction with the City.
• Recommending action on 2012 November
election ballot initiatives to
create a healthy economic climate
for job growth, balanced budgets
and a functional, co-operative legislature.
• Developing a new high school for
Camarillo with positive economic
impact.
• Promoting Camarillo as an impor-

tant tourism and visitor destination.
• Continuing support of CSUCI
growth and positive community economic
impact.
• Monitoring re-development re-organization/project
changes.
• Determining activities to support the
continued success of NBVC.
Historically, many of the Chamber
activities and programs have originated
from the Economic Development Committee,
such as the Economic Outlook
& Forecast Luncheon, CI COnnection
Committee and others.
The EDC meetins on the first Tuesday
of each moth from 8 - 9 a.m. in the
Chamber boardroom. All members are
welcome and invited to attend.
