Corporate Management DivisionHealthy work environmentThe work environment is very important in terms ofproductivity, creativity, and job satisfaction etc. LSEstrived to achieve a healthy work environment for all theoccupants of the building. Smoking is banned in the LSEBuilding corridors, stairs and lifts therefore 'no smoking'signs were placed at suitable places on every floor of thebuilding. Any reported violation was effectively handled.Good ventilation, natural lighting, lots of plants, jobsecurity and respect for employee values remained theareas of our concentration. We also plan for an onsite gymin the basement-II of the LSE Building. LSE has furtherlifted the cleanliness benchmarks. Regular fumigationwas done to fight against 'dengue viruses'.Centralization of all the purchasesLSE has centralized its purchases. Centralization has theadvantages of reducing duplication of effort, poolingvolume purchases for discounts, enabling more effectiveinventory control, consolidating transport loads toachieve lower costs, increasing skills development inpurchasing personnel, and enhancing relationships withsuppliers. Further, departments other than purchasingare relieved from the burden of purchasing.Cost saving measuresFinding ways to cut office expenses without sacrificingthe quality of service or demoralizing staff is a challengetask Internally, we have taken a hard look at our costs andmade some significant changes and improvements. Wehave reset our priorities and adopted innovative costmanagement measures without compromising quality.LSE has implemented a number of money saving ideas forthe office that can end up not only cutting costs, but alsoenhancing productivity and making it moreenvironmentally friendly.Running an office within budget is a daunting task. LSEhas taken certain initiatives that have a surprisinglysignificant effect on the bottom line. Buying bulk of officesupplies from wholesale suppliers; double side printing,using the backs of discarded paper for rough drafts, notprinting every email, utilizing what we already owninstead of buying new office equipment, creating abudget for discretionary items and sticking it, electricitysaving by efficient use of electric equipments and changeof WAPDA tariff are the some of the measures that wehave adopted.CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONMedia and Public RelationsMedia Relations continued to disseminate the activities ofLSE and projection the image of the <strong>Exchange</strong> to themasses through print and electronic media. LSE keptactive liaison with the media people through specialmeetings. LSE arranged a special course on MediaRelations which was conducted by a prominent journalistand attended by relevant officials of the <strong>Exchange</strong>. Thepurpose of the course was to enlighten the LSE staff and toacquire the expert practical knowledge to successfullymeet the requirements and to facilitate the media personsto efficiently cover the activities of the <strong>Exchange</strong>.Throughout the year, LSE remained in the media spotlightwith regular coverage in the national and internationalpress and electronic media.Event ManagementA number of local and foreign delegates and companiesrepresentatives visited LSE during the year under review.Administrative Department arranged memorial shields tobe presented to them and also facilitate media coverage oftheir visits.56LAHORE STOCK EXCHANGE
