Super "Shorty" carbs for big twins arecompatible with stock 1981 and later throttle cables.1981 and earlier chassis must be updated to a two cablethrottle system. S&S offers high quality cables and handgrips to make this upgrade easy. See page 26.NOTES:▼ Stock motorcycles 1980 or earlier must be updated to a two cablepull open/pull closed throttle control system. A single cable pullopen system cannot pull the throttle closed in case the throttleshould accidentally stick in the open position. S&S offers highquality throttle cable kits in several lengths for this purpose. A presson sleeve is also available to increase the diameter of the throttlegrip area of 1972 and earlier handle bars to 1” to allow installationof modern throttle assemblies. See page 26 to 27 of this catalog.▼ Shovelhead engines with five gallon gas tanks and cylindersthat are taller than stock require a special notched air cleanercover to clear the gas tank. Since these taller engines alsorequire a special length manifold, select a carb with a notchedair cleaner cover without a manifold from the chart be;low andcontact your local dealer to order the correct length manifold.▼ S&S does not recommend polishing or chrome plating SuperE & G carburetors.
