The child indicates if they heard ‘blob’ by pointing at theplaydough, or if they heard ‘Bob’ by pointing at the puzzle pieces. If correct, the adulth<strong>and</strong>s over a puzzle piece to add to the puzzle or a bit of playdough to add to ‘Blob’.Tree or tea?Target sound: ‘tr’ word initialContrast: ‘t’Words: tree, teaResources: a picture of a tree <strong>and</strong> of a cup of tea; smaller pictures of things that gowith the tree (e.g. a leaf, bird, squirrel, kite that got stuck, nest) <strong>and</strong> things that go intea (e.g. milk, sugar, spoon <strong>and</strong> teabag).ActivityThe pictures of tree <strong>and</strong> tea are placed on the wall a little way from where the child issitting. The adult secretly picks one of the smaller pictures <strong>and</strong> says where it goes. Thechild goes up to the picture they heard (tree or tea) <strong>and</strong> the adult then shows the childthe smaller picture to see if they were right. The child then attaches it to the picture onthe wall <strong>and</strong> returns to their seat for the next turn. Sometimes the adult might make a‘deliberate mistake’ to show the incongruities.133
