Members of <strong>the</strong> team will consist of a<strong>Probation</strong> Officer for case management, a Resource Specialist to assess overalljuvenile/family needs and to assist in connecting with local community agencies, aCertified Teacher to monitor grades, network with schools and provide tutoring oro<strong>the</strong>r needed educational services, a Truancy Officer to monitor school attendance, aLicensed Professional Counselor to address all mental health needs for probationerand/or family and a volunteer Mentor to provide encouragement and life skills.Project TurnaroundNewWrap-AroundProject Turnaround is designed to provide more intensive services, provide for a morecomprehensive assessment of <strong>the</strong> youths needs and risk factors, and provide 24-hourcrisis intervention to reduce <strong>the</strong> risk of out of home placement. Through <strong>the</strong>combined efforts of several agencies and professionals, including <strong>Texas</strong> CorrectionalOffice on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments, Individual Mental Health,Sex Offender, Family and Individual Counselors, Psychiatric Medications, and CrisisIntervention, this innovative project will provide an array of strategically coordinatedand comprehensive programs and services to meet <strong>the</strong> needs of <strong>the</strong> growingpopulation of youth with mental health diagnosis, and repeat violent and seriousjuvenile offenders.158 TEXAS JUVENILE PROBATION COMMISSION, DECEMBER 2011
