7 Transport &Telecommunication8 Sports & YouthAffairs To speed up the relief activities proper planhas to be formulated by the Transport &Telecom Dept. in improving transportcoverage to different locations by variousmeans Provision of alternative means of telecommunicationto ensure flow ofcommunication network between theaffected areas & HQs. Youth festivals/ programmes can be theplatform for Disaster Management. Youths can be given training/demonstrations on DRM & in turnspreading massive awareness to the public.9 Education DM can be included in the schoolcurriculum. Teachers/ students must also be trainedpractically in various activities of thesubject.10 AH& Veterinary Arrangement of shelters for animals Ensure availability of medicines& fodder Carcass Disposal squad has to be set up forspeedy & proper disposal of dead animalswhich prevents spread of communicablediseases.11 Police Set up Search & Rescue teams. Maintenance of law & order Patrolling/linkages also have to be set up12 Housing Impart training on how to construct safedwelling units. Provision of housing materials like CGIsheets etc Temporary shelters13 Forest &Environment14 Agriculture & allieddepartments Regulate felling of tress to check landslide,soil erosion. Check jungle/forest fire which causedamage/loss to the environment. Awareness on the ill‐effects of Jhumcultivation. Check Dams are useful for irrigationpurpose which can provide regular supplyof water to the crops & means of curvingsoil erosion. As crop failure is also a disaster, necessarysteps are to be taken to enable the farmersto take up alternative plantation at theearliest.
