CHAPTER VICRISIS RESPONSE STRUCTURE OF THE DISTRICT6.1 GENERAL ADVANCE PREPAREDNESSDISTRICT ADMINISTRATION6.1.1 Setting of Control Room: The District Control Room is situated in the premises of the officeof the Deputy Commissioner. The Control room should remain functional 24x7.6.1.2 Storage and Stock Piling of Emergent Relief Materials: Rice, kerosene, oil, dal, sugar,polythene sheets, fodder, and medicines to be stored.6.1.3 Weak and Vulnerable Points: ‐ Irrigation Dept, Soil Conservation, PWD will keep sufficientamount of sand bags in readiness to be pressed into service in case of damaged piping orseepage found in weak points.6.1.4 Rainfall Recording Station: A rainfall Recording Gauge and a register is available in theDistrict Agriculture Office. The concerned Department is responsible for regular recordingand dissemination of information to the District Administration (Dist Control Room).6.1.5 Mock Drill: In order to handle any eventuality with ease, Mock Drills will be conducted at alllevels‐ District, Block and Village levels twice a year, especially before the hazard season.6.1.6 Awareness Generation: Awareness programmes on Community Based DisasterPreparedness (CBDP) will be conducted to counter disaster threats collectively andeffectively and regular orientation programmes for District, Block, Village, DDMC, BDMC,VDMC, NGOs will also be carried out.6.1.7 Selection of Flood or Cyclone Shelters /Mounds: These are buildings belonging to Govt. andeducational institutions to be used for providing immediate shelter to the evacuated peoplefrom affected areas.6.1.8 Transport: Line Depts. having vehicles will keep these in road worthy condition. Othervariables like tyres, tubes, diesel, petrol, bulbs and other important parts of the vehicle willbe kept in readiness.6.1.9 Liaison: Liaison with the Civil Defence, CRPF, Police, Home Guards, NCC, NGOs and othercharitable organizations will be made by the DC.
