round table // newspapers and magazines are currently experiencing one of the worst crises in
their history with plunging advertising revenues and plummeting circulations. this is largely due to
the rapid rise of the internet and its influence on the ways we use media. Children and young
people in particular are learning that they don’t need printed paper to get information. that’s why
critics fear up-and-coming generations will no longer use any print media at all. Heidelberg news
wanted to find out more and brought together educators, media experts and journalists at the
Print Media academy (PMa) to discuss whether print still has a future or whether newspapers and
magazines are a thing of the past.
