IRCICAThe Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and CultureResearch Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture(IRCICA), a subsidiary of the Organization of IslamicCooperation (OIC), is an inter-governmental organizationwith 57 Member States from Southeast Asia, SouthAsia, Central Asia, Caucasia, the Middle East, Africa, Eastand Southeast Europe and South America. The Centrebecame active in 1980 as the first subsidiary organ ofthe OIC working in cultural fields. The headquarters ofIRCICA are in the Yıldız Palace complex in Istanbul.IRCICA undertakes activities of research, publishing,information, library and documentation, and promotesacademic studies and international cultural cooperationin the following areas: the history of Islamic civilizationand Muslim nations, inter-cultural relations in the pastand the present, cultural development issues, arts andsciences in the Muslim world, Islamic archaeology,restoration and conservation of cultural and architecturalheritage, and connected fields. The Centre’s activitieshelp to make the Islamic civilization and the Islamiccountries better known and understood through themedium of their cultures, reinforce relations between itsMember States and other nations, contribute in creatingan atmosphere of cultural understanding and dialogue,and promote Islamic studies as a field of scholarlyresearch. Due to this wide scope of its fields of activity,IRCICA’s publications address a vast gamut of subjectsand range from scholarly books and bibliographies toartistic catalogues and photograph albums.
