It contains 576photographs of İstanbul taken at the end of the 19th-beginningof the 20th century and showing districts, buildings, scenesof social life and economic activity. These photographs wereselected from the Yıldız Photograph Albums, which comprise atotal of around 35000 photographs taken all over the Ottomanempire at the time. Their reproductions were made, classifiedand annotated by IRCICA. The album is supplemented withan introduction on the history of photography, informationon the photographers having worked in various parts ofthe Ottoman empire and photograph studios, and an indexarranged according to the photographers.
