About This ReportThis report, focusing on consumer awareness and action onclimate change in Australia, is part of the <strong>AccountAbility</strong> ‘WhatAssures Consumers’ series of reports, and builds on our researchwith consumers, green marketing practitioners and opinionleaders in the UK and US.The report is based on research with over 1000 consumers,through a multiple choice survey conducted online by Globescanin April 2008, with quotas set by age, gender and region.This was supplemented by a small number of consumerinterviews. Quotes from these interviews are included throughoutthe report in blue. The report was also enriched by comments andinsights from a number of practitioners and opinion leaders inthe area.The aim of the report is to help build understanding of the rolethat consumers can play to avert climate change crisis. It looksat what infl uences consumer behaviour, what provides effectiveassurance and what pathways offer the greatest opportunitiesfor impact.The primary audiences for the report are business, civil societyorganisations, standards setters and policy makers concernedwith achieving climate change goals in the context of theAustralian economy.
