Kevin McGuff ’88 shares a smile with former Badin girls headbasketball coach Dan Purcell at the Hall of Fame dinner on May11. McGuff was recently named the head women’s basketballcoach at the Ohio State University.“I am extremely excited and humbled to be the next women’sbasketball coach at Ohio State,” McGuff told the Big TenNetwork. “This is an amazing opportunity for my family and meto come back to the state of Ohio. … As someone who isfrom Ohio, I know how special of a place this is and my goal isto have Ohio State competing at the highest level of women’s college basketball.”McGuff has been a head coach for 11 seasons – nine at Xavier University and the last two atthe University of Washington. He has compiled an overall record of 255-99 and has reachedthe postseason each year. He and his wife, Latitia, are the parents of six children.McGuff was on hand for the 25-year reunion of the 1988 boys’ state basketball champions, while Purcell was enjoying the 15-yearreunion of the 1998 girls basketball team that he directed to the state title. The eight-team event was a two-division round robin, with the top two teams out of each divisionadvancing to the semifinals.
