Kulifay earns Connelly Scholarship: Michael Kulifay,valedictorian <strong>of</strong> the senior class, earned the PatrickConnelly Leadership Scholarship, given annually to a <strong>Badin</strong>student who will attend Miami University and has been adifference-maker at BHS. The scholarship is awarded inhonor <strong>of</strong> the late Patrick Connelly ’73. Anthony Award for dedication to social and communityaction; Jacob Schweinefuss, the University <strong>of</strong> Rochester XeroxAward for innovation and information technology; and JacobMoran, the Bausch & Lomb award for science.16Pate Scholarship winner Austin Ray ’15 (center) was the inaugural recipient <strong>of</strong> the DanielFrancis Pate ’88 Scholarship, awarded to a current student showing enthusiasm for social studiesand civic responsibility. On hand for the presentation were members <strong>of</strong> the Pate family, includingPatti Pate Gray ’80, Danny’s sister; his mother, Barb Schuster Pate ’58; Karen Pate BrowningReed ‘84, his sister; and <strong>Badin</strong> faculty member Rick Pate ’03, his nephew. Danny Pate ‘88, asocial studies teacher in the Hamilton City <strong>School</strong> District, passed away in the summer <strong>of</strong> 2012.
