Dear Badin Alumni and Friends,As we get ready to enjoy the summermonths, Badin High School is preparing foranother school year. We recently addedanother class to the ranks of alumni. The Classof 2013 did a terrific job this year providingleadership to the underclassmen. We areextremely proud of their accomplishments.At commencement, Judge Keith Spaeth, a1979 graduate of Badin High School, was thekeynote speaker. Judge Spaeth discussed theimportance of having a personal constitution– developing your character. At Badin, wehelp students find their personal constitutionthrough faith formation. The retreat program,religion classes and service opportunities allowour students to fine-tune their morals andvalues – to develop their personal constitution.As you are aware, we have spent the lastyear looking at all aspects of our school. Bysurveying parents, students, faculty and alumni,we have gained great insight into where weare currently and where we need to be inthe future. The strategic plan that has beendeveloped provides us with specific goals and aroadmap for reaching those goals.providing as many opportunities for ourstudents to excel in their areas of strength.All of the priorities will make Badin a betterschool for our students. We look forward toimplementing the plan over the next three tofive years and seeing the positive difference itwill make.We are already working on the facility pieceas you read this. The original windows will bereplaced over the summer with new, energyefficient windows. Champion Windows willbe installing the new windows in time for theschool year to begin. The windows, alongwith the air conditioning installed during thesummer of 2012, greatly improve the facilitybut more importantly make the learningenvironment better for our students.As we look forward to the future, we needto recognize and thank those who have servedBadin and our students in the past. SallyKocher, Anne Ungerbuehler and Al Kenkel areall retiring at the end of this school year. Allthree have been tremendous assets to Badinand have left a lasting influence on the school.We will greatly miss them all. We wish themwell as they move onto a new phase in theirlife – retirement.Principal’s LetterAs you read the strategic plan and seethe list of priorities, it is clear that academicexcellence is the top priority. We have astrong academic program but we understandthat we need to continue to enhance ourofferings in order to provide our studentsthe best education possible. The focus onacademics will allow us to do this.We will be providing more professionaldevelopment for our faculty, increasing the useof technology in our curriculum and expandingour dual credit program and developingpartnerships with colleges and industries inorder to make sure our students are collegeand career ready. We will be upgrading ourfacilities to become more energy efficient andcreating a campus of the future to allow forgreater collaboration among our students.We will build on our extracurricular program,As you move about your busy life, pleaseremember to keep in touch with us. Wewant to hear about your successes andaccomplishments. We want to promote all thegreat contributions our alumni are making tothe community and around the country.
