<strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>Scholarships</strong> <strong>Offered</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>2014</strong>-<strong>2015</strong> Academic YearALUMNA GRANT FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION: The purpose of <strong>the</strong> $1,000 grant is toassist a worthy alumna who has been out of school <strong>for</strong> five years or more and is returning to schoolto fur<strong>the</strong>r her education at <strong>the</strong> graduate level. The recipient should be planning to return to school<strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>2014</strong>-<strong>2015</strong> academic year, but does not have to be classified as a full-time student. Thegrant is awarded based on academic per<strong>for</strong>mance, service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> on any level and serviceto community.BARBARA GIBSON FROEMMING SCHOLARSHIP: This $2,000 scholarship wasestablished in 2007 by Barbara Gibson Froemming to honor <strong>the</strong> Tau chapter of <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong>. Itshall be awarded <strong>for</strong> graduate study in <strong>the</strong> field of education. Selection is to be based on academicper<strong>for</strong>mance and service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnae association or national KDinvolvement, as well as campus and community service.DOROTHEA B. CAVIN SCHOLARSHIP: Two (2) $2,000 graduate scholarships are named<strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Doro<strong>the</strong>a B. Cavin, Alpha Psi chapter, Drury College, a <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> involved ineducation <strong>for</strong> many years whose significant bequest to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> initiated <strong>the</strong> <strong>for</strong>mation of <strong>the</strong><strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> Foundation. The scholarships are awarded based on academic per<strong>for</strong>mance, service to<strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnae association or national KD and service to campus andcommunity.HELEN A. SNYDER SCHOLARSHIP: This $2,000 scholarship is named <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Helen A.Snyder, Psi chapter, Lawrence College, a <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> who served <strong>for</strong> many years as Dean ofWomen at <strong>the</strong> University of Nebraska and as <strong>the</strong> Mortar Board’s national president. Thescholarship is awarded based on academic per<strong>for</strong>mance, service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter,alumnae association or national KD and service to campus and community.HERFF JONES GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP: Herff Jones, <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong>’s official jeweler,gives a $2,500 fellowship <strong>for</strong> graduate study based on academic excellence, service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong>through chapter, alumnae association or national KD and service to university and community.JANICE E. ARNETT GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: Two (2) $2,500 scholarships <strong>for</strong>graduate study were established in 2009 from funds received from <strong>the</strong> Estate of Janice E. Arnett,a 1961 initiate of Beta Mu chapter, Bowling Green State University, a lifelong educator whoserved on <strong>the</strong> National Council as Secretary and Chairman of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> Foundation. This scholarship will be awarded to a <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong>who is pursuing a graduate degree in <strong>the</strong> field of health care. This award is based on academicper<strong>for</strong>mance, service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnae association or national KD andservice to university and community.MINDY SOPHER SCHOLARSHIP: This $1,000 scholarship is named in honor of MindySopher, a 1976 initiate of Alpha Nu chapter, Wittenberg University, <strong>for</strong> her dedication to <strong>the</strong> Greekworld and having received one of <strong>the</strong> highest honors given by <strong>the</strong> Association of FraternityAdvisors (AFA). This scholarship will be awarded to a <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> who is pursuing a graduatedegree in higher education or student personnel.MINNIE MAE PRESCOTT SCHOLARSHIP: This $2,000 scholarship was established by <strong>the</strong>National Council to honor NPC Delegate Emerita Minnie Mae Prescott, Alpha Psi chapter, DruryCollege, <strong>for</strong>mer National Panhellenic Conference Chairman and <strong>for</strong>mer National Council member,Hall of Honor recipient, and Executive Secretary. This scholarship will be awarded to a <strong>Kappa</strong><strong>Delta</strong> who is pursuing a graduate degree in <strong>the</strong> field of her choice. The award is based on academicper<strong>for</strong>mance, service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnae association or national KD andservice to university and community.MURIEL JOHNSTONE SCHOLARSHIP: This $2,000 scholarship was established in 1998from funds received from <strong>the</strong> Estate of Muriel Johnstone, Alpha Pi chapter, College of Williamand Mary, and is awarded <strong>for</strong> graduate study based on academic per<strong>for</strong>mance, service to <strong>Kappa</strong><strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnae association or national KD and service to campus and community.Financial need will also be a consideration in <strong>the</strong> awarding of this scholarship. Confirmation offinancial need must be approved.VOLUNTEER SCHOLARSHIP: This $2,000 scholarship, established in 2002 by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kappa</strong><strong>Delta</strong> Foundation, will be awarded to a current member of a House Corporation Board, a ChapterAdvisory Board member or a member who serves as a leader in an Alumnae Chapter, <strong>for</strong> graduate


study based on academic per<strong>for</strong>mance, service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnaeassociation or national KD, and service to university and community.WINIFRED HILL BOYD GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: This $5,000 scholarship,established in 2002 by Winifred Hill Boyd, a 1941 initiate of Theta chapter, Randolph-MaconWoman’s College, will be awarded to a <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> who is pursuing a graduate degree in <strong>the</strong>fields of math and/or science. This award is based on academic per<strong>for</strong>mance, professional promise,leadership, service to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnae association or national KD, andservice to university and community.CHAPTER SPECIFIC:The following scholarships are awarded to <strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> alumnae from a specific chapter.ALPHA CHI CHAPTER GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: Established in 1997, this $2,000scholarship is endowed by Elizabeth A. Wibker, <strong>for</strong>mer National President, and Nan TerrillWibker, both initiates of Alpha Chi chapter, Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship isawarded to an Alpha Chi member <strong>for</strong> graduate study based on academic per<strong>for</strong>mance, service to<strong>Kappa</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> through chapter, alumnae chapter or national KD, and service to university andcommunity.
