From prehistory, with Stonehenge: The Ultimate Experiment Live, to the documentary series We shall remain – a native American anthology to 20th century history in Napoleon und die Deutschen, no page of the human saga is left unturned. Combining historical rigour with a thrilling story, each documentary is a memorable expedition and experience for the whole family. ARTE DISCOVERY Monday through Friday at 7:50 pm ARTE whisks the whole family off to new horizons with its many ambitious documentary series. Leben am Mekong, for example, invites us to travel while telling the story of the people who live along this great Asian river. Other programmes explore nature and the animal kingdom, with fi lms such as Das Jahr des Wildnis. ARTE Discovery also looks at recent history, most notably with a series of programmes featuring the lives of German emigrants who made America what it is today, from W.E. Boeing to H.J. Heinz. SCIENCE Friday at 10:05 pm Both informative and entertaining, Science showcases the latest discoveries and trends in science, technology and medicine. What causes fear? Do plants have a soul? Is the Earth’s magnetic fi eld weakening? Taking the viewer from the laboratory to the fi eld, complex phenomena are revealed and challenging questions are answered. 360° – GEO REPORT Saturday at 8 pm The reporters on 360° – GEO Report criss-cross the planet looking for unusual stories and colourful encounters in places like Vietnam, Russia or Eritrea, from the remotest countryside to the largest cities. COUNTRY COOKING Saturday at 6:30 pm Country Cooking sets the viewer’s taste buds tingling with culinary visits to our European neighbours. FAR AWAY PLACES Monday through Friday at 4:55 pm Far Away Places gives viewers a chance to explore some of the globe’s least known regions and learn about their local traditions and religions. It also provides an opportunity for people living in these places to voice their own unique worldviews.
