programming has expanded into other
media through ARTE Editions, a joint
label for both DVD and book publishing
since 2008. An ambitious editorial policy
ensures a wide variety of subjects and
styles, providing food for thought and
material for debate. True to the channel’s
spirit of openness, ARTE Editions
engages primarily in joint ventures,
seeking proactive partnerships to bring
works into publication and ensure
their ongoing sales and distribution.
In the ten years of its existence, the
publishing arm has become a preferred
partner in the industry, initiating original
projects that refl ect the commitment
and enthusiasm of ARTE, as well as
its high standards and spirit of enquiry.
The book catalogue now has almost a
hundred titles, including such bestselling
successes as the book If Maps Could
Talk (Atlas du Dessous des cartes) series,
based on the programme with Jean-
Christophe Victor, a book version of The
World According to Monsanto (Le monde
selon Monsanto) by Marie-Monique
Robin and the graphic novel Waltz with
Bachir, inspired by Ari Folman’s fi rst
animated documentary feature.
In DVD and Blu Ray, ARTE Editions
has won over audiences with box sets
of The War by Ken Burns and Lynn
Novick and Architectures by Richard
Copans and Stan Neumann. Performing
arts are also a strong point, with titles
such as Louise Bourgeois, Ariane
Mnouchkine – The Adventure of the
Théâtre du Soleil and Peter and the Wolf,
the musical fable by Sergei Prokofi ev.
