<strong>PLATINUM</strong>Tailings Retreatment Plant (TRP)• Advanced technology for more efficient extraction of PGMs• Proposed Location on Blinkwater (preferred) or Swartfontein (2 nd option)• Advantages of Blinkwater site:– It is in close proximity to the N11 between Limburg and Mokopane– It is closest to the existing Blinkwater Tailings Dam– The land is available and will not be required for use in the planned future expansions of themine.• Will receive tailings from the North and South Concentrators on the mine• Final tailings (waste) will be disposed of on the existing Tailings Dams• 6 hectares (ha) in size with TRP plant, office and parking lot• Pipes and power lines will supply TRP with water, electricity and tailings. Tailings andconcentrate will leave the TRP. Pipes will cross Mohlasane River 6
<strong>PLATINUM</strong>River Diversion• The existing Sandsloot Pit is to be extended northwards to extract more ore• This will affect the course of the Groot Sandsloot River channel, which will requirediversion to prevent inflow into the pit• The first option is to only divert the river to the north• The second option, is to divert the river to the north and west.• The choice between the two options is dependent on engineering and cost aspects• The diversion channel will be designed to accommodate flow in the Sandsloot River• The diverted section will be on the mine property• The diversion will entail trenching and then construction of canal or pipeto allow thecontinued flow of water• Construction area will be rehabilitated 7
