The cultivated area of the District is 9.75 Lakh Ha out of which 7.95 Lakh Ha is under Kharif and 1.80Lakh Ha., is under Rabi Season during the year 2006-2007. The District occupies the lowest positionin respect of Irrigation facilities with only 14.08% of the gross cropped area during 2006-2007. Out ofthe gross irrigated area of 1.37 Lakh Ha during 2006-2007 canals accounted for 17.37%,tanks 1.36%, Tube wells 70.83%, wells 10.02% and other sources 0.42%. All the principal sourcesexcept canals are non-precarious. The cropping pattern of the district is given in Table 3.1.9.3-1below.22
