35of being cynical but actually I just think that I have aninnately suspicious nature and I have sometimessuspected that Debs engineers many of her morecalamitous situations for her own personal selfaggrandizement.Deborah naturally denies any suchaccusations and our disagreements have occasionallycaused significant rifts in the lute.At the end of last year when Mr Humphrieswas seeking a successor to Lady Victoria he lobbiedJojo and I to fulfill the role of Red-shirt. For differentreasons we both turned down the position and weboth expressed the opinion that despite Deborah’s fallfrom grace with Ms Lawton that we just assumed thatwould be forgotten and she would be the naturalcandidate. After all she is an unreasonably (andperhaps even unnaturally) gifted individual and it isactually her abundance of fatal flaws that make herso attractive and sometimes even endearing. However, The Grand Master explained that he fearedthat she would just be too high maintenance and Ihave to say that I agreed with him. Eventually LadyVix was persuaded to stay on for a second term eventhough she has officially finished her sentence.Despite the Grand Masters concerns Victorialobbied for Debs to firstly be promoted to Captain ofthe Red House and then subsequently as her Deputy.I am forced to admit that Debs has proved mewrong and has done a smashing job in both roles, soI am more than happy to endorse her when the timecomes. I just wish that she would stop babbling in myear about heart-rates and breathing patterns.
