The Department is headed by a Section 57 employee, Director: <strong>Co</strong>rporate Servicesreporting to the Municipal ManagerOffice of the Municipal ManagerThis department focuses on IDP, Economic development, town and regional issues, etc. The IDP office has beenestablished comprising of the Municipal Manager as the IDP Manager, IDP <strong>Co</strong>-ordinator, Admin. Officer andSecretary. As accounting officer of the municipality, the Municipal Manager is responsible and accountable for theoverall municipality’s administration in terms of Chapter 7 of <strong>Local</strong> Government Municipal Systems Act, 32 of 2000.<strong>Co</strong>mmunity and Health ServicesThe department is focusing on <strong>Co</strong>mmunity Development issues that include <strong>Co</strong>mmunity Health, EnvironmentalHealth, Waste Management, Housing, Parks and Cemeteries. Due to shortage of funds, personnel and equipment,services like waste removal and registration of land fill sites are not rendered at other units of the municipality.Eradication of informal settlement is also posing a huge challenge to the municipality as more land and services arerequired to relocate or upgrade the existing informal settlements. This is placing a burden on the municipal budgetas the municipality have to provide services to the informal settlements which paid for. The municipality is howeverstruggling provide land for housing purpose and with the assistance of the Department of Agriculture, two townshipsare being established at Kwazanele and Wesselton. The township establishments are envisaged to be completed byFebruary <strong>2008</strong> and still remains with a challenge of services provision to the said sites.
