CCCCCC6. Counter-rotating material(screw, axis)6.1.MaterialThe following materials can be used as counter-rotatingmaterial (relative material cost). Please prefer those materials among the group, whichare printed in red.Counter-rotating material (screw)6.1.1.8. Alloyed cold-worked steels accordingto DIN-standard 17350 cured and tempered:X210Cr12 (Vickers hardness HV = 750)X155CrVMo121 (Vickers hardness HV = 750)100Cr6 (Vickers hardness HV = 750)X36CrMo17 (Vickers hardness HV = 500)6.1.1.9. Alloyed warm-worked steels accordingto DIN-standard 17350 cured and tempered:PrefaceContents6.1.1.Metals6.1.1.1.Non-alloy-treated steels according toDIN-standard 17100 used for economy-pricedsolutions:St 37-2k – used for low stress applications (1)St 44-2 - used for moderate stress applicationsSt 50-2k – used for medium stress applications (1,5)St 52-3 (Vickers hardness HV=170)6.1.1.2.Alloy-treated, cured and temperedcase-hardened steels according to DINstandard17210 used for longest working life:16MnCr5 – small screws (1,7) (Vickers hardness HV =750)15CrNi6 – thermosetting for big screws (2,1)6.1.1.3.Tempered steels according to DINstandard17200 with a tough core and a hardsurface:C45 – for small screws (1,6) (Vickers hardness HV =170) 42CrMo4 – for big screws (2)6.1.1.4.Stainless steels according to DINstandard17440 susceptible to hardening andtempering:X 20Cr13 Martens steel (3,2)X 20CrNi172 Martens steel (4,0)6.1.1.5.Steels used for surface layer hardeningaccording to DIN-standard 17212 cured andtempered:CF 53 (Vickers hardness HV = 600)6.1.1.6. Stainless cast steel according to DINstandard17445, solution calcined andquenched:G-X30CrNiSiNb2424 (Vickers hardness HV = 280)6.1.1.7. Stainless steels according to DINstandard17115 quenched and tempered:X40CrMoV51 (Vickers hardness HV = 450)6.1.1.10. High speed steels according to DINstandard17350 cured and tempered:S6-5-2 (Vickers hardness HV = 850)6.1.1.11. Recommended protection againstcorrosion:Nickel-plating, e.g. KANIGE or KANISIL 2000;coating thickness depending on the kind of chemicalwear 30 to 50 µm, quenched and tempered from 500 to800 Vickers and ground according to RZ = 1 to 4 µm.6.1.2.NE MetalsAluminium and aluminium alloys should not be used, unless the surface is hard chromed or hard coated. Whenoperating with other NE-metals, we ask you to call ourapplication research department, because here we mustreckon with higher wear due to sliding friction and highercoefficients of friction.6.1.3.PlasticsWe recommend Inkupox CF as an excellent plastics or“screw material”. This material consisting of carbon fiberreinforced epoxide resin showing an outstanding relationof tensile strength/elastic modulus. It is extremely stiff and very light, so that it is highlysuítable for applications in the field of light constructionand when operating with overlength screws.6.1.4. Painted sliding surfacesPainted metallic basic elements can also be used ascounter-rotating surfaces. The main advantage is, thatthe unprotected basic element is protected againstcorrosion due to the paint and the visible counter-rotatingsurfaces can be constructed in all kinds of shades. Inmany cases of application the paint modifications haveturned out to be sufficiently hard wearing in combinationwith ZEDEX-100K.Recommendations of paint are available upon request.MaterialoverviewIndex Slide bearings Slide bearings Conditions ofTribologyMathematical Design(with collar) (cylindrical) installationexample guidelines23MnNiCrMo64 (Vickers hardness HV = 280)Wolf Kunststoff-Gleitlager GmbH • Heisenbergstr. 63 - 65 • 50169 Kerpen-Türnich • Tel. 02237/9749-0 • Fax. 02237/9749-2018
