In Memory of Lesley Kennedy, International Directorof Global Affairs and UK Region DirectorThis article is written in memory of Lesley Kennedy, partner of PeterRussell (International Director of Global Affairs).Lesley passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her and Peter’shome in Mottingham, London, England on October 1 of last year.Lesley’s cremation was held on the 14th of October at a local crematorium.It was attended by about 300 people, including her family fromCanada and friends fromNorway and Israel who hadcome to say a final farewell. Inaddition to GWRRA, Lesleyand Peter also belonged to theGold Wing Owners’ Club ofGreat Britain (Capital Wings)and a cavalcade of Gold Wingsescorted the hearse to thecrematorium.Lesley was probably knownto everyone who has everattended a Wing Ding, as shewas quite a distinctive lady andleft a lasting impression on allwho came into contact withLesley was well-traveled as an Ambassadorfor GWRRA. Here she is on a trip to Israel,where the first GWRRA Chapter there, ISR-A,was chartered in October of 2007.her. Lesley had a warm andgenerous nature and a lovelysmile.We (Peter and MaryDonoghue, UK EN-A) firstmet Lesley and Peter ata club meeting held byKent Wings (part of theGold Wing Owners’Club of Great Britain)about eight years ago.Since then, we hadformed a close friendshipwith them, and wehave many happy memoriesof times spentwith Peter and Lesley.One of those memoriesis that we used tomeet up with Lesleyand Peter at WingDings and, in 2004, wewent to America withthem for three weeks,taking in the Wing Dingat Grapevine duringour travels. Many people referred to her as “The Teddy BearLady”.When Lesley and Peter first got together, Peter purchased a largeTeddy Bear for her called “Big Ted” to keep her company when he wasnot at home. This was the start of the collection of Teddy Bears towhich Lesley had added for the last 25 years. Everywhere in the worldLesley and Peter went, she would take two or three bears with her.And14 Wing World
