При этом столь разнообразнаядеятельность, как коллекционирование, архивирование идокументирование, идет не в разрез с собственной работой художника,но органично сочетается с практическим профессионализмом,творчеством и изобретательством. И всё-таки с любовьюоформленным текстам и книгам, дотошному архивированию ивидеодокументированию всей выставочной деятельности московскойконцептуальной школы, коллекционированию и заботливомухранению в альбомах и папках, даже воплощению своих идей в перформансахи инсталляциях противостоит тенденция скрыть себясамого. Такая скромно заниженная позиция коренится не только взахаровской выучке книгоиздателя, который должно уметь взятьсяза работу, сжиться с ней, а затем отдать, но и соответствует лейтмотивуМосковского концептуализма. Полет, уход, исчезновение – названиеодной из первых обзорных выставок Московского концептуальногоискусства, каталог которой естественно был подготовлен издательствомПастора Зонда. 1В нем прослеживается путь непрерывного развития мотиваисчезновения, начиная от истоков русского авангарда, до первогопоколения московских концептуалистов – таких, как Илья Кабаков,и кончая молодым поколением современных художников. Помимосупрематической идеи пустоты, тоски по свободе и трансцендентному,мотив исчезновения содержит в себе также проблему идентичностина фоне эмиграции.Somewhere behind or in the work of the publisher, author,typographer and producer of Pastor Zond Editions is concealednot only the most important chronicler and documentalistof what is known as Moscow Conceptualism, but alsothe collector of many important works from this artistic trend.The various activities of collecting, archiving and documentingneither take precedence over, nor are sub-ordinate to,his own work, but go hand in hand with the business of producing,creating and inventing. Yet the loving design of textsand books, the laborious archiving and documenting on videoof all exhibiting activities of the Moscow Conceptual school,the careful collection of items and their preservation inalbums and folders, even his personal appearances in performancesand installations, are balanced by a tendency tovanish. This modest attitude of understatement is not onlyrooted in Zakharov’s training as a typographer, who has toexercise discipline and restraint while nevertheless showingempathy for the work of others, but is also an essential leitmotivof Moscow Conceptualism. Flight, Distance,Disappearance was the title of one of the first major comprehensiveexhibitions of Moscow Conceptual art, whose cataloguewas naturally designed by Pastor Zond Editions. 1 Theexhibition followed the motif of disappearance through itsvarious stages of continuity and change from the beginningsof the Russian avant- garde through the first generation ofMoscow Conceptualists grouped around Ilya Kabakov up tothe younger generation of contemporary artists. From theparamount leitmotiv of emptiness via the yearning for freedomand transcendence, the motif of disappearance alsoimplies the problem of identity against a background of emigration.The Brief History of Modern Art, or The Life and Death ofthe Black Square, written by Nikita Alexeev on a 36-metrelongscroll, may be seen as an illustration of this line of deve-
