And if you only could see when the criminals shallhang their heads before their Lord (saying):"Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so sendus back, that we will do righteous good deeds.Verily, we now believe with certainty.'' (32:12)However, they will get no response. Then whenthey see the Fire and they are held over it andthey look at the punishments therein, they willask even more fervently than before to go back, but they will get no response. If you could but see when they will be held overthe (Hell) Fire! They will say: "Would that wewere but sent back (to the world)! Then we wouldnot deny the Ayat of our Lord, and we would beof the believers!''Nay, it has become manifest to them what theyhad been concealing before. But if they werereturned, they would certainly revert to thatwhich they were forbidden. And indeed they areliars. (6:27-28)When they actually enter Hell and have a taste ofits heat, hooked rods of iron and chains, theirplea to go back will be at its most desperate andfervent:وَهُمْ یَصْطَرِخُونَ فِيهَا رَب َّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَلِحاً غَيْرَ ال َّذِىآُن َّا نَعْمَلُ أَوَلَمْ نُعَم ِّرْآُمْ م َّا یَتَذَآ َّرُ فِيهِ مَن تَذَآ َّرَ وَجَآءَآُمُ الن َّذِیرُفَذُوقُواْ فَمَا لِلظ َّلِمِينَ مِن ن َّصِيرٍTherein they will cry: "Our Lord! Bring us out, weshall do righteous good deeds, not that we useddo.''16
