As if Fir`awn would be concerned aboutwhat Musa might do to his people!The majority understood this as meaning, `he willchange your religion and cause mischief to appearin the land.'وَقَالَ‏ مُوسَى إِن ِّي عُذْتُ‏ بِرَب ِّي وَرَب ِّكُم م ِّن آُل ِّ مُتَكَب ِّرٍ‏ ل َّا یُؤْمِنُ‏ بِيَوْمِ‏٢٧﴿ ﴾ الْحِسَابِ‏Musa said: "Verily, I seek refuge in my Lord and yourLord from every arrogant who believes not in the Day ofReckoning!''means, when he heard that Fir`awn had said,Musa, (Leave me to kill Musa), ذَرُونِي أَقْتُلْ‏ مُوسَىpeace be upon him, said, "I seek refuge andprotection with Allah from his evil and the evil ofthose like him.''So he said: إِن ِّي عُذْتُ‏ بِرَب ِّي وَرَب ِّكُم (Verily, I seek refugein my Lord and your Lord) -- those who werebeing addressed here -- م ِّن آُل ِّ مُتَكَب ِّرٍ‏ (from everyل َّا یُؤْمِنُ‏ بِيَوْمِ‏ evildoer, arrogant) means, from every(who believes not in the Day of الْحِسَابِ‏Reckoning!).It was reported in the Hadith narrated from Abu Musa,may Allah be pleased with him, that when the Messengerof Allah was afraid of some people, he would say:...36
